Staged maybe? Anyway not much support locally for this.

If the west is almost unanimously backing Guaido and Maduro's remaining allies are Russia, China, Iran, and Turkey - it should tell you something
This is a 'broken clock is right twice a day' moment

(53,978 posts)The same groups of countries are deploying surrogates internally to wrest control of the resources of foreign countries. It's happened many times in the region. It's nothing new. What would be new is if they let the actual people of the country decide their own internal affairs.

(53,978 posts)You are obviously on one side and describe how evil the opposition is but you have to know that it's not all one-sided as far as negative push back.

(9,500 posts)Guido is moving to Plan B to get his supporters on the streets. Given the Venezuelan Right's propensity for shooting it's own people (like in the 2002 coup), it looks like they're gonna try to put civilians in the firing line in hopes of giving the US justification to intervene.

(9,500 posts)Whether it was Maduros people or Guaido's people is another question.
Given how the media covered the 2002 coup and swallowed every piece of propaganda that was fed to it by the coup supporters, I wouldn't put it past them to have the opposition run down Maduro supporters and then try to claim the opposite.

I do hope you've got a better pitch than "FALSE FLAG!!!!111" because that would mean all the other times dissident protestors were attacked/killed were false flags, too. I especially hope you've got something backing up such a wild-assed accusation other than conjecture and speculation.

But at least after Maduro, and Chavez before him confiscated all the guns from the people, they left them plenty of rocks to throw to fight their way out of his dictatorial grip.
At least more of the Military are on the side of the people now. This will be over soon.
