Democrats either don't understand or want to believe that they are on what Sun Tzu calls "Deadly Ground" in the "Art of War".
I took a look at the betting oddsmakers yesterday. At this time, they have Trump widely favored to win in 2020.
It seems to me it is time for Democrats to fight for the survival of democracy with every weapon at their disposal.
We are up against a vulgar demagogue with no scruples at all, up to and including accepting help from a hostile power to rig the election.
I believe it will be a fatal mistake to try avoiding a messy fight for the sake of political optics and expediency.
"Ground on which we can only be saved from destruction by fighting without delay, is desperate ground."

House has to investigate, and with luck uncover evidence that makes it impossible for Senate repugs to vote AGAINST, a far stretch no doubt.

(781 posts)come over to the light or not. There is enough evidence uncovered by Mueller to impeach now. Further evidence uncovered by House Impeachment Judicial Committee investigations would be even better.
The House's normal oversight duty is being and will continue being stalled by trump. All the while he and his cronies are controlling the narrative, IMO.
Bring on open televised impeachment hearings now. Let the Senate repubs that are complicit go down in history for not being patriotic and shunning their oath to the constitution.

(131,391 posts)and it would surely be exciting. I'm not betting on ANYthing to prevail these days, but if a good ### of Dems want to try it, I'd be with them/us.

(19,665 posts)all the evidence.
If the information that comes out is truly damning (and it will be) the repugs will lose the Senate if they refuse to act.

(14,118 posts)Investigate, certainly but lay impeachment on the table. What better way to develop public will for which Democratic leaders seek.

(1,977 posts)It is that America has completely lost its way and the country is effectively over.
Sorry but that's the sad truth. If we elect Trump again then it is over. Don't blame the democrats for the country wanting to elect a racist madman. It isn't their fault. What is the explanation? That people don't like Democrats so much that they just had to vote for a guy intent of destroying our government? Or that they just can't bring themselves to vote for the alternative to that to at least live to fight another day?
If the truth being spun is that Democrats are somehow to blame for the country having trump as it's president then I'm sorry but the country is lost and we are in a different era right now.
He has killed so many of our political and governmental norms that we may never go back as it is. Democrats holding to our traditions and foundations are wha they SHOULD be doing. Once we discard that then we have given in to an altered state of our country and we will never be able to go back. I'm afraid we may be past that point already.
