flaunts congressional subpoenas one can be pretty sure a dictatorship is well on its way IMO. IMO many Americans still don't get WTF is going on in a country where so many are aloof thinking the other guy is doing their job ... or they are just too busy to care about the future of the country.

(1,981 posts)Most people are too absorbed in their pop culture social media bullshit world to care because the economy is ok for them and we aren't at war. They only see things on the peripheral and don't understand that this isn't just "both sides politics as usual" and that this man is a dire threat to the world.

(67,104 posts)forms of totalitarianism. Trump knows he can just push ahead and break the boundaries of a democracy because he seems to get little push back, and he has secured accomplices. I don't think he's as stupid as many make him out to be ... some of it is an act IMO for his crazed supporters.

(4,723 posts)I know a number of people who just can't be bothered to care, and others who are being beaten down by the burdens of modern life to have time or energy to engage. Still others as downright willfully ignorant and love all this, and love Trump's authoritarian approach that punishes people that are not like them. Dangerous times.

(67,104 posts)and for Trump because they say the Democrats will take away their money. It's a total WTF, but they are unshakable beliefs, and they in other respects are nice decent people and rather liberal ... yet they vote for Trump. A total WTF. Then, I know some aloof ones, basically nice people, pretty liberal, yet they don't bother to vote ... or say they do but lie. So many people in this country just can't seem to comprehend WTF is going on, that our democracy is being fragmented. Trump is not stupid IMO, he knows what he's doing. For example, how he has in many ways captured this country.
