If oversight was in the Executive Branch, we would have a King...

But in their wisdom, the Founders put oversight into the hands of the people's Representatives, the Congress of the United States.

One of the powers of oversight is the right to subpoena for documents and information the Congress perceives to be in the interest of the people and our nation.

Donald Trump does not seem to understand that simple principle from the Founders?

If it does go to Court, I think he will learn a very important history lesson. America kicked out King George in 1776 and created a government of, by, and for the People. They did not choose to be ruled by a King.

When the Congress requests testimony from someone, private citizen or someone in the Executive Branch, they have the right to subpoena that person to appear before the Congress. That is a power given to the Representatives in our Congress.

Congress has subpoenaed Don McGahn to appear before them. They are on solid constitutional ground and Donald Trump is standing in quicksand, if he thinks he has the power to deny Congress this right. The Courts, if they follow our Constitution, will not follow the direction of a wannabe King.

2. That could present a problem....

...a much larger problem when someone wants to be a King.

3. Bill Gates wants a king

Sergey Bin and Larry Page, owners of Google, want a king. The Waltons want a king. Jeff Bezos wants a king.

If for just a moment they did not want Trump being the representative of the United States, Trump would be gone in a heartbeat.

Our richest capitalist kings are the ones orchestating this. And they couldn't find anyone better than Trump.

4. We need to do a better job of teaching what it takes to be an American. That vigilante

group at the border probably thinks it's patriotic. Taking the law into one's own hands isn't patriotic because it circumvents rule of law. Ditto abusive law enforcement.

5. Enforcement Will Be Interesting

Now that Barr has made it clear that he won't prosecute contempt of Congress, it will be interesting to see how the House actually compels testimony with a subpoena.

Prepare for the next deliberately formed constitutional crisis. I don't see compliance with congressional subpoenas from current or former White House officials forthcoming. The request for tRump's tax returns from the IRS is headed for the Supreme Court.

6. Remember all those teabags with their revolutionary flags and tricorner hats,

who sprung up in '09 because Obama was a tyrant and America will have no king?

I wonder who they're backing in the current political contretemps.
