The third Article of Impeachment against Richard Nixon charged him with failing "without lawful cause or excuse to produce papers and things as directed by duly authorized subpoenas issued by the Committee on the Judiciary of the House of Representatives."



Of course back in the day, the Supremes were actually sort of judges not obviously beholding to party or foreign influence or money, and not boozing sycophants who hate women and minorities as much as the next boozing sycophant; and congress critters had a shred of decency. Just a shred. IMHO

1. Not just the Supremes

I have been telling folks to look at Watergate and the Nixon investigations. The investigations showed the repubs of that time that Nixon committed crimes and needed to go. Goldwater went to Nixon & told him either you resign or you will be impeached, tried by the Senate and found guilty. Of course repubs of today are not repubs of the 1970s.
