A Kind Restaurant Gesture Goes Viral

When an Alabama man went out to eat with two buddies, he noticed an older woman eating alone in the restaurant in Oxford. “My exact thoughts was ‘dang I’d hate to have to eat alone,'" writes Jamario Howard in a now-viral Facebook post, per Fox 8. Howard spoke to the woman briefly and learned that she was a widow who had gone out to eat on the eve of her 60th wedding anniversary. He gave his condolences, and she accepted his invitation to join him and his friends. "The point in this is always be kind and be nice to people," he writes. "You never know what they are going through." Read his full post, including a photo of their dinner, here.

And a STELLAR gesture to go along with it.

We should always remember this thought.

Great group of guys. Their mothers should be proud of them. Nice to read a story such as this, with all the negativity in the news today. Thanks for posting this uplifting story.

Especially when our highest-ranked officials have no capacity for it, and make hay off its banishment.
Those gentlemen are heroes of love.

Most people are kind. We live in a world where the rare bad actor has made us fearful to reach out to the stranger. Our news media loves the sensational.

Our lives are poorer for these exaggerated narratives. We can be smart, but still open to making new relationships...some of them transient; Some of them longer term.

Our lives are all richer when we do.

What a wonderful example of the basic goodness of Americans. We need many more of these examples to go viral in the time of Trump's vast ugliness and cruelty.

I live alone and have no family nearby. More often than not, I resort to take-out, so I don't have to eat alone while being surrounded by everyone else laughing and talking with their dinner companions. On the rare occasions I do go out, I equipped with my smart phone and ear buds.
