Institutions depend upon the willingness of people to obey norms, and occasionally to say, okay, this is not how we do things in our country,' Krugman said. This didnt start with Trump theres been a steady erosion of those norms. This has been building for a long time, and were very close to the edge right now.
When you say close to the edge, what does that mean to you? Cooper asked.
You know, on paper, well stay a democracy, but I worry very much about us sort of Hungary type situation where you have on paper the institutions of democracy. You even hold votes, but the system is rigged, and in fact, its become effectively you have a one-party rule, he said.

It started as retribution for FDR. Every conceivable law to make transferring of wealth cheaper, faster and easier for the upper 1% was passed. The crowning achievement of greed was the 2000 Commodities Futures Modernization Act. Unopposed. Krugman is right but who is going to turn it???? Or benign status quo wins. Trump is confusing poverty with surrender. His artificially stimulated tax cut economy is on dangerous ground . Record setting stock prices without reciprocating valuation is an axiom for recession and correction.
