Gut punched

Last edited Tue Apr 23, 2019, 09:32 PM - Edit history (1)

trump and junior got away with it by lying and refusing to be interviewed or cooperate.

No hope at SDNY because Barr will likely shut it down.

And all the BS about how "Mueller knows SOOOO much more than we do; its just the tip of the iceberg." Report was mostly a rehash.

Once again, the rich and powerful sucker punch the rest of us.

Helluva fucking justice system.

I'm out.

He says we are moving towards the end of our country as we know it and possibly a Trump dictatorship. Unfortunately, I fear that there is a stronger chance that this is true than we are allowing ourselves to admit.

Honestly, I'm frightened that American Democracy is over. I guess our last chance is election 2020. I mean screw the division here people. Let's get together and get the hell rid of this monster.

I only had two questions.
1) Would Trump actually be able to pull it off? My feeling remains no even if he stonewalls Congress from now to election day where he loses big. I could be wrong on that.
2) If he doesn't pull it off, how much time do we have before the next dictator tries and this time succeeds, because he learned from Trump's mistakes? I think 8 years if we don't take back the Senate, and 20 or so if we do.

2016 saw the lowest voter turnout in 40 years. No matter which candidate you support in the primary, you can be sure that he/she will generate YUGE turnout in the general.

Big surprise: my money's on Sanders.

“It’s a vast pattern. It’s not some event,” Krugman said.

“You write that it’s very much up in the air whether America as we know it will survive,” Cooper said.

“Institutions depend upon the willingness of people to obey norms, and occasionally to say, okay, ‘this is not how we do things in our country,’” Krugman said. “This didn’t start with Trump. There’s been a steady erosion of those norms. This has been building for a long time, and we’re very close to the edge right now.”

“When you say close to the edge, what does that mean to you?” Cooper asked.

“You know, on paper, we’ll stay a democracy, but I worry very much about a sort of Hungary type situation where you have on paper the institutions of democracy. You even hold votes, but the system is rigged, and in fact, it’s become effectively you have a one-party rule,” he said.

“We’re very close. If Trump is re-elected if the Republicans retake control of the House, what are the odds that we will really have a functioning democracy after that?” Krugman said.

“I mean, that’s a pretty terrifying idea,” Cooper said.

“If you’re not terrified, you’re not paying attention,” Krugman said.

or the Democratic Party. Are we forgetting the 2018 election LANDSLIDE already? Are we forgetting that this country elected a black man named BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA for PRESIDENT _____twice? Are we missing that the strong RED DISTRICTS in California were flipped blue? These may be the times that try our souls---but we---like Elizabeth Warren ----must persist.

On Robert Mueller ---a lot of people thought he was going to go charging into the White House with Federal Marshalls and arrest Trump.----First of all he does not have the authority. BUT----he has laid out a road map for the prosecution of Trump in a way that is a minefield that will continue to explode for several election cycles. Mueller knows that the country is pretty heavily divided and that a knee jerk impeachment will not work. HRC's position is right. A slow methodical set of hearings in Congress will expose Trump so that one by one ---or ten by ten----his support will erode. It took a long time to bring Nixon down----and there were dark moments but his own Senate urged him out.

If you read Mueller's bio ----especially the Lockerbie investigation---it will give you some insight as to what he is capable of. Mueller is right now the country's savior and the legal community knows he has launched an attack that will succeed. It is up to us to have the patience and determination that he has. Mueller is a rare person in the fact that he was both a wounded Marine line Captain and a graduate of the Army Ranger school ----a search will show that he is also a member of the Army Ranger Hall of Fame----just how do we square that with a draft-dodging phony using a bogus heel spurs deferment.

I urge you to have faith and stay the course.
