"However, the president on Wednesday afternoon said he was not "kidding" or "being sarcastic" about wanting Pelosi to be House speaker.

"I think she deserves it. She's been fighting long for this. I mean this," he said. "There was nothing sarcastic about it. It was really meant with very good intentions."

Trump added that he had a "very warm conversation" with Pelosi about the midterms results, but he said they did not talk about Democrats' calls to impeach him.

"We didn't talk about impeaching," he said, adding that he doesn't understand why Democrats would want to impeach him or anyone else in his administration.

"When you ask about division, they're the ones that cause the division. They cause tremendous division," Trump said of Democrats."
