The COn touts a press conference at 9.30am tomorrow - meanwhile Congress receives the Report after 11.00am
This is absolutely criminal.
ITTMF!! What the fuck is wrong with Barr and the Con - if the report exonerates him, why all this deceit.
Come Nancy - stop this fucking crucifixion of the Constitution and rule of law.

(1,436 posts)MUELLER: "Our investigation found multiple acts by the President that were capable of exerting..."
From the Mueller Report, page 157:
"Our investigation found multiple acts by the President that were capable of exerting undue influence over law enforcement investigations, including Russian-interference and obstruction investigations."
So why didn't they investigate the President?
Page 160:
"The Department of Justice has taken the position that Section 1512(c)(2) states a broad, independent, and unqualified prohibition on obstruction of justice."
Mueller then argues over 22 pages that the DOJ position is legally incorrect and that the President should be investigated for obstruction.
His conclusion:
IV. Conclusion
Because we determined not to make a traditional prosecutorial judgment, we did not draw ultimate conclusions about the President's conduct. The evidence we obtained about the President's actions and intent presents difficult issues that would need to be resolved if we were making a traditional prosecutorial judgment. At the same time, if we had confidence after a thorough investigation of the facts that the President clearly did not commit obstruction of justice, we would so state. Based on the facts and the the applicable legal standards, we are unable to reach that judgment. Accordingly, while this report does not conclude that the President committed a crime, it also does not exonerate him.
Holding Trump accountable is up to Congress now.

The gop looks like a banana republic dictatorship, but, somehow we still have to come to the table in top hat and tails, and willing to compromise. We will always lose doing this. I'm not saying we need revenge, but, when we deal w a group that LOVEs to see "liberal tears', (code for, "we can do now wrong bc if the other side is mad and crying...we won".) and we keep coming to the table like a lamb to slaughter, we'll be slaughtered. Over and over. It's almost 1/4 of the way through this congress...and Mueller's report hasn't been seen, and there's no end in sight to the obfuscation. FIGHT BACK CONGRESS. Stop being appalled, and channel the anger into sticking your foot up someones ass and breaking it off, for us, and for every American, who got us here today. Pretend you're Ted Kennedy.

benfranklin1776
(6,458 posts)Judge Walton is a no nonsense no BS judge and hes been around enough to know a coverup when he sees it and given the paucity of justification for hiding significant portions of the report from we the people who paid for it Mr. Barr, the James Okeefe of Attorney Generals, may have labored in vain in his coverup efforts. Not to mention the chairs of judiciary and intel can go to the judge overseeing the grand jury and petition for release of that material to Congress as its clearly in the public interest to do so as it was during Watergate. So the legal sledgehammers are there; they just need swung to break down this wall of deliberate obstructive obfuscation.

(23,002 posts)I'm reminded of the national draft. Dems were drafted who were against the war but we went and fought anyway. And we performed, and out-performed the gop on many levels. There are SO many really tough Democrats who have fought for this country, in MANY different forms. We don't choose it, but, when you push me, my family, my friends, and my country, you just pushed me. EXPECT to be confronted.
Good luck to all of us, but, let's drop this sucker in gear. We've done the patience thing. Now it's time to act.
Something in the back of my head tells me that this is the beginning of the NEXT delay of the release we all demand.
Hard to ask for another Blue Wave, when the last one promised hard hitting action without qualifiers. Gotta fulfill promises if we expect to be believed the next time.

Because if we don't stop the descent into the fiery hell of fascism, it WILL come to that.
And if it does, those who are unlucky enough to survive need to relentlessly, ruthlessly hunt down the billionaires, and thy them for their parasitical destruction of this world's civilizations.
Yeah, I know what we've got is imperfect, but we have two choices - we can try to reform it and achieve social and economic justice, or we could tear it down brick by brick.
Problem is, if you want to tear it down, what will you put up in its place?

(1,201 posts)to hold Trump accountable, to show we are a nation of laws and no one is above the law. Each day Pelosi hesitates the more opposition will appear from these Trump toadies. Exposing Trump will ensure his defeat at the polls and if Repub senators fail to convict it will expose them as accomplices. Win-Win but hurry before the SC determines it "will cause irreparable harm to"..Trump and all investigations must cease. Scary. Pelosi's refusal to impeach will end up costing us the House...again I fear.

(2,067 posts)That term means something specific. It sounds like you're using it generally.
Not to mention that the investigation is complete and the report is submitted. Unless you're referring to a different investigation, legally there's nothing to obstruct. The investigation is over. That's the whole reason the report was submitted and it's being released tomorrow. You can't obstruct at this point.
People seem to be expecting some legal maneuver from Pelosi that doesn't actually exist.

In this case, Burr's actions are so openly to protect Trump, that I am fully confident they will backfire. The Truth will start rising by Sunday .... which is a curious coincidence, I suppose. Yet very appropriate.
I haven't been here much in the past week. But I've told one of our DU friends a few things during this time, that I'll share here in the next day or so. (Any OP tonight would sink rapidly by tomorrow morning. Plus, the information relates rather directly with the report.)

Maxine understands what Nancy is trying to do but she still wants impeachment now.
Back in January, I said things would heat up in mid-March and it wouldn't be good for Trump ....and that by mid-June, things would take place that are far worse for Trump et al. Despite being off by about 10 days in March, I still think that my June call will prove to be correct.
Barr would not be so willing to absolutely humiliate himself this way if all of this was good news for Trump. Indeed, there would be no need to do anything beyond releasing the report.

The attorney general has created an environment that has caused a significant part of the public
to be concerned, a district court judge said.

Attorney General William Barr has created public distrust about whether the Justice Department is committed to sharing as much as possible about the Russia probe's findings, a federal judge said on Tuesday.
The attorney general has created an environment that has caused a significant part of the public
to be concerned about whether or not there is full transparency, U.S. District Court Judge Reggie Walton said during a hearing Tuesday afternoon on a Freedom of Information Act suit demanding access to a report detailing the findings of special counsel Robert Mueller.
Walton, an appointee of President George W. Bush, did not elaborate on what actions or statements by the attorney general have generated those perceptions.
Democrats and other critics have faulted Barr for adding his own conclusions favorable to President Donald Trump into a letter sent to Congress last month summarizing the top-line findings of the report. In addition, Barr has warned that he plans to make redactions to the report on grounds such as privacy and grand jury secrecy, prompting more complaints.
