The headline in today's paper said "Trump to allow Lawsuits Over Cuba Properties" and the first line in the AP story is: "Stepping up pressure on Cuba, the Trump Administration will allow...". My immediate thought was why? To what end is this "pressure" being applied?
Does Trump demand a statue of himself in place of Fidel? Does he see a need for Havana outlet stores for Ivanka's jewelry? I have a lot of questions, but no answers. Nothing in the article about his ultimate goal. Is he just screwing with Cuba on this anniversary of the Bay Of Pigs incident because it's the American way? Did Fred Trump lose property in the 1959 takeover?
Any thoughts?

(4,463 posts)... Cuba back in the fold, and trump screwing with them nudges them in that direction. But who knows? He might have seen a Miami Vice re-run that gave him some ideas.

(13,270 posts)Efforts to destabilize Cuba are not in Russia's interest, they are in the interest of the aging echelon of neocon cold warriors out to achieve absolute victory, the former gangsters and international corporations who had assets in Cuba before 1959, and off course the aging Cuban exiles in Miami.

(10,281 posts)didn't have an office in Havana when Castro's regime finally collapsed, the New York Mafia WOULD.
Trump is just doing 'prep work' for construction contracts and money laundry-ing (for new york and moscow, respectively).
If he gets a shiny new beachfront golf course for his effort, so much the better.

(11,495 posts)He doesn't want everyone else getting into Cuba before "HE CAN". I thought I read someplace that he had ideas about getting into Cuba with the trump brand.

And Miami Cubans may or may not long to return but passionately hate any memory of Castro.
I doubt Trump could find it on a map.

(6,255 posts)But the joke may be on him. The older Cubans who always show up and act up for news cameras at Versailles coffee shop are quickly dying off. Younger Cubans do not share their parents or grandparents connection to the island and tend to be happier to be here.
