(59,756 posts)All we can do at the moment is what's within our power, which is why we need to win the White House and Senate.

(2,771 posts)They've been building towards this for a long time and the country is weathering this thing as best it can without rioting. This is the last gasp for the Republicans and they know it. I figured they would have until maybe the late 20's as a viable party before states like Texas and Florida started to come online as blue. Either state would make it impossible for the Republicans to win and they've pushed the time frame up by a decade with how they are showing their natural born asses.
In the meantime, despite their best efforts, the country will continue to get browner along with fewer, and fewer, of their kids signing up for their core principals. It's sickening to see whats happening. Everyday it's something new and insane as trump skirts the law as much as possible. It's doubly sickening to see grown ass adults sit on their hands and pretend this shit is normal. Everyday we are a step closer to the end of both trump and the republicans as a viable party in this country.
It took them 50-60 years to build out their shitty ass plan and what they are attempting has always been their end game. We have a government that is operating with only one half of a functioning branch of government. The executive is nothing, congress is broken and unable to pass anything and the supreme court has enough idiots that anything going in there is questionable. Somehow this country is managing to stay afloat, and that's because there are more of us than there are of them.
I know it's not much to hang your hat on, but it's why this coup, despite decades of ground work and infiltration into every branch of government by their acolytes is failing right before our eyes. How long do you think Barr has? Or Mnunichen(sp) or any of his other flunkies? The Mueller report will get out and we'll see those tax returns, finally. When they hit it will be the final act for the republicans, not just trump and his family. The plan was always going to be us having to vote the republicans out. This betrayal of any type of normalcy have made it so the electorate can't ignore politics, or them, any longer.
I know it's hard to get excited about the small victories. Sometimes it's just too much and can really drag you down, way down. It's those time we have to remind ourselves that the small wins have been slowly stacking since the very day that dude got elected.
Alright, I've rambled along enough now and it's time for bed.

(16,147 posts)It's not even a speed bump for them.
Congress can ask/demand anything they want, but they won't get it.
There is no law they won't ignore if it is convenient for them and no way to force the issue. I never realized that the House is utterly toothless before, because when they investigate our side, our people tend to follow the rules and care that there are laws.
