It could be election campaign bluster from Bibi though.

EDIT: What's the status of the charges against Netanyahu?

2. What doesn't bode well? Netanyahu's actions or Pete's statement?

Netanyahu's actions are wrong and immoral - as ususal

Pete's standing up for what is right, legal and moral is not a problem. He's only stating what every nation in the world has said and agreed to.

I've just been really frustrated by people here who have taken some of his perfectly good, sane statements and gone all stupid about them.

8. He can't annex the West Bank outright...

...because that would mean granting Israeli citizenship, and voting rights, to Palestinians.

Instead, what he will do is start off by annexing settlement blocs, then any empty land where no Palestinian towns/cities exist. Those remaining towns and cities will remain "occupied territory," but will be merely tiny disconnected dots in the midst of "greater Israel," cut off from each other and with no means to become a Palestinian state. In other words, they'll be similar to the Bantustans of apartheid South Africa or Native American reservations here (with the key exception that Native Americans have full U.S. citizenship; Palestinians will never have citizenship of any kind).

The only thing keeping Israel from doing so in the past has been disapproval from the U.S., plus fear that it might spark another war. However, with Trump giving it the thumbs-up, and Arab states like Saudi Arabia and Egypt firmly in his corner, such obstacles are now gone. Israel could conduct an all-out ethnic cleansing campaign, and the world wouldn't even blink.

6. He is reiterating the U.S. policy. First of all there is no doubt what Netanyahu is doing, he is

trying to rally the right to vote for him. At the same time he is pissing on the moderates and the left. It will be interesting if this helps or hurts him in the election. If he is doing this though, it implies that he is worried about the election.

However, besides world reaction against it, and condemnation in the UN, I see the Israeli courts and the parliament blocking it from happening. More importantly, even if they were able to do this, it would cause a major uprising in the West Bank, and that would whittle down Israeli resources to try to contain it, which I don't believe they would be able to do, and either end in an all out war in the middle east, because other countries would then get involved

Regardless of the election outcome, this is Netanyahu's bullshit, which I don't believe will happen.

He played a similar game in his last election, where he said he would never allow a two state solution, and after he won the election, he backed away from that. I think the same thing would happen here if he won.

Netanyahu is a Trumpian clone, and playing a dangerous game, which has possibilities to not only lead to the destruction of Israel, but possibly instigate WWIII.

I don't think that last outcome will happen though, and hopefully, the asshole will not only lose the election, but be indicted.
