Trump is Losing His Words and Likely His Mind

Watching Trump today struggle to remember his words and being unable to recall and say the word, “origins” was disturbing. He said the word, “oranges” instead, and more than once. He’s obviously incompetent. We are all at risk and the Republicans will continue to stick their heads in the sand.

for sure, having witnessed older relatives have somewhat the same issue. Often, when trying to use a specific word, they stumble, then sometimes use another word when clearly the listener expected something else.

Funny though he used oranges! Maybe he does read DU?

But the mispronunciation of oranges for origins, then immediately trying to correct it and blowing it again and switching to "beginnings" is not really so horrible. Perhaps it is a word he messes up like Bush and "nuclear"?

There are pronunciations of certain words that I still stumble on and would prefer not to have to say in public.

I would be more concerned with the fact he said his Dad was born in Germany.

Dems need to start calling out these mental lapses in the media and demand he step down. He won’t. But that seed will be planted in voters’ minds.

You can see it in his eyes as he says “orange.” He knows it’s not the right word. He compensated by repeating that it’s the beginning. He tries again and the wrong word comes out again. He knows and yet he can’t do what any of us who know we just tripped over our words and laugh or jokingly spit. He looks anxious about it and pushes through.

I’d say he knows he’s slipping and given his personality he’s unable to do anything other than try to pretend it’s not happening.

I’ve always thought he covered up his tendency to use words incorrectly by blowharding his way past them but he was generally reading them and in front of a crowd so you could imagine nerves, dissociation (not abnormal in such situations) or some such but he actually seemed lost and unable to find the right word. Forgetting names or words now and then happens in normal mental decline with age and isn’t necessarily an issue (I can be terrible at it) but this had a really odd presentation and I’d say bears watching. He was upset and couldn’t find a way out of it. That was the most troubling.

a simple word, vs. "anonymous". But he knew what it meant because he kept repeating a definition.

I remember being in a public speaking class and fumbling over a word - could have even been anonymous..I said it wrong a couple times and then just skipped it. My only point is that I was extremely nervous...almost petrified. Maybe his missteps happen when he is nervous and lying? He was talking about investigating the origins of the Mueller investigation which is total bullshit ?

I think he knows something is wrong with his speech and is trying to cover it up. Could it be a learning disability? Would explain his aversion to reading or to being presented with complex information. He gets angry.

Just seems like his issues are more complex than normal aging?

I know that symptom all too well. It happened to my mom the day she died. That is what happens when you have a stroke. Strokes come in all sizes, locations in the brain, and intensities. This sounds like Trump is regularly having a series of tiny strokes. It could go on for years, or it could end in a massive stroke from one second to the next when he collapses to the floor babbling like an infant before he turns into a complete vegetable--or anywhere in between.

It could be something else, entirely, of course, but if he KNOWS he's talking gibberish and wants to correct it, but can't, that is a classic stroke symptom.

Wed Apr 3, 2019, 01:40 AM

Reagan had Alzheimer's by then. It didn't matter much. The suits ran the White House, set policy, vetoed or not. Was it in his 2nd term that the Republicans illegally traded arms with Iran for hostages? Or was that his first term?

Anyway, Trump doesn't run much of anything. He watches tv & tweets all day, golfs or travels to go play golf 3 days a week. Then he vetoes a bill now and then. Or he gets on his high horse and does an executive order to ban Muslims or whatever...but others draw up the documents for him to sign...which I'm certain he never reads.

He's our first for-show President. He gives rallies, spouts gimmicky language ("witch hunt," "it' rigged," "build the wall," make American great again, lock her up, etc.). He's putting on a show, playing President.

We need to tell him in 2020 "YOU'RE FIRED!"

It doesn't mean anything.

He is not going to have a nervous breakdown, if that's what people are waiting for. Not gonna happen, IMO. No matter how he acts, his base is with him...so far.

His base was fine with him putting immigrant children in kennels. Once they accepted that, they were 100% gone. I hate to say it, but in my mind, I was seeing how some (many?) Germans came to accepting what was done to the Jews. The dictator tests them bit by bit, to see what they'll accept. There's a point where the dictator knows he has them all the way.

No, this is going to have to be done the old fashioned way. Win an election. What won't be old fashioned about it is that Russia will help Trump again. So we just need to have enough votes to overcome that.
