The AG CANNOT shut down a special counsel investigation. I'm tired of repeating this. He could only fire the SC with cause. He didn't do that. And Mueller has agreed that none of the AGs prevented him from doing anything he wanted.

Jesus Christ I wish people would just learn the basics of how the SC law works.

It’s not a matter of understanding how the special counsel law was written or is supposed to work. The current administration couldn’t care less about following the law. That should have been obvious by now. The fascists are here and they’re doing things their way.

“has the power to block any “investigative or procedural step” Mueller recommends, such as bringing an indictment or subpoena, if he determines it to be “inappropriate or unwarranted under established Departmental practices.””

He’s supposed to notify Congress, but why would he do that when he was expressly hired to shield trump?

have been thrown out the door. Barr didn't need to "fire" Muller: the guys are friends, and members of the republican party, from many years back. Decades. Barr wouldn't even have to threaten to fire Muller to get him to stop. They'd just go have a beer and it would be a done deal. Barr wouldn't even have to ask him. He would just make it seem like a really good idea.

but he could have asked Mueller for a preliminary report. I am not saying that’s the case here, but it’s a possibility. It’s a “Mueller report” per Barr, but is it the final report?

Unless the details are released, people will continue to ask questions and speculate.

as soon as Barr got in a flurry of "Mueller is pretty much done" and "any down now" reports hit the media and started leaking on.

DU was awash with people saying it was BS... the grand jury probe was extended until June being the primary reason.

Then last week Mueller team members were said to be "too busy" to comment on some case before a court, forget which one. They were clearly in a HURRY. And Friday the report hits.

Over the weekend we learn "three weeks ago" Mueller told Barr he could not reach a conclusion of obstruction. Was the word "YET" in there anywhere?

Everything that happened this month seems to indicate Mueller was suddenly in a hurry to get done and I wonder if Barr told him three weeks ago "if you don't know yet, you never will. write up your findings. it is over".

friends, but very good friends. Their families were friends. Their spouses were friends; and had been so for many, many years. I said then, that Barr having introduced his large family of lawyers, that Barr was looking for jobs for his children and in-laws, as there were a lot of them on the public dole as Public Defenders and Prosecutors. As Atty Gen he was in a position to elevate their status, and shortly after Barr was appointed Atty Gen, his son went to work in the White House working as a member of Trump's legal team. We are officially a Banana Republic.
