Joe diGenova Suggests People Should Buy Guns Because America is In ‘Civil War’: ‘It’s Going to be Total War’

Former prosecutor and Fox News regular Joe diGenova had a moment on Thursday where he said America is careening toward “civil war,” suggesting people grab their guns before country presumably dissolves into a lawless free-for-all.

DiGenova joined Laura Ingraham on her latest podcast, where she bemoaned how the news about arrested Coast Guard lieutenant Christopher Hasson takes oxygen away from Jussie Smollett and the troubles in Virginia’s state government. This became the basis for a segment from Ingraham’s Fox show later in the evening.

When Ingraham asked diGenova for his thoughts on whether there’s a connection between Hasson and President Donald Trump, he grumbled about Virginia’s leaders “getting a pass” because of the decreasing media focus on them. Soon enough, diGenova went all out and declared “We are in a civil war in this country.”

“There’s two standards of justice, one for Democrats one for Republicans. The press is all Democrat, all liberal, all progressive, all left – they hate Republicans, they hate Trump. So the suggestion that there’s ever going to be civil discourse in this country for the foreseeable future in this country is over. It’s not going to be. It’s going to be total war. And as I say to my friends, I do two things – I vote and I buy guns.”

This is what diGenova has left to him. His carefully constructed world, where well-connected white men own everything and dictate the terms of existence is crumbling away at long last, and the notion of having to earn his privilege scares him right down to his silk boxers. A society where he exists on a level playing field instead of getting an instant head start in every area is not one diGenova wants to be part of. He'd rather go down in a blaze of gunfire (Well, not really. He's never going to go Stephen Paddock; too chickenshit.) than cede one ounce of his privilege. Other insecure, petty little men will hear his fright and take up his cause.

I am of 2 minds on this one. #1 I believe most of them talk a lot of smack and half of those people, though they might have 3-4 guns within reach, never get off the couch. #2 More than you would think have infiltrated the military and police departments across the country and cannot be trusted to uphold the law in a time of civil unrest. IF #1 gets emboldened by the actions of #2 you are going to have an insurgency that has no respect for human life or law and are ready to become martyrs for the cause.
I don't think we are going to see a civil war, but it IS going to get ugly at some point. Most likely after Trump is removed from office, even if that is by the ballot box.

18. Many Democrats are firearms owners.

They are not out carrying them around and pretending to be commandos in camouflage. They just have them, stowed away safely, or used for hunting and other legitimate reasons.

Many also served in the military and have some combat training or at least training on the use of firearms.

But, they aren't broadcasting their armed status as a means of proving their manhood or something.

The armed far right forgets that, which is just fine with those of us who are quietly armed. When they come marching up the street in their rag-tag "tactical" gear, looking to attack immigrants, brown people and others, they might just be in for a surprise.

There are a LOT of Democratic gun owners. And liberal gun owners. We just keep a low profile and are generally responsible. We don’t flaunt our guns. We are for common sense gun control - comprehensive background checks - etc.

I wish there were more of us, but I think there are a lot more than most right wingers realize.
