...if he felt that his puppet wouldn't retaliate? If he felt that the whole command-and-control structure could be paralyzed enough, that he'd get away with it? Could this just be what he's had in mind all along by putting Trump in the White House? I hope to God that someone, anyone, in the Pentagon has thought about this, and that they have some sort of contingency plan, and have quietly let the Russians *know* they have a contingency plan. And I hope even more that I'm being paranoid. Read Ron Rosenbaum's *How the End Begins*, if you're at all sanguine about what might actually happen in a nuclear emergency...

At which time a new bilateral agreement between Russia and the US is announced that excludes all considerations for our European allies, thus essentially undercutting NATO.

Trump of course will herald this as a great victory for his “deal making” skills, and Putin will succeed in fracturing the defenses of his neighbors and thus making a path to “reclamation” of former Soviet states under Kremlin control all the easier.
