It needs to be understood that Republicans brought the "illegals" into the US for exploitable labor and to break unions. They refused to make them legal because then their strategy wouldn't have worked - and now they want to treat them like dirt for political advantage.

They pop up in the news every now and then, like when a lot of workers died of heat stroke when regulations were not followed by their employer.

They lost most of their power during the anti-union actions of the 1980s.
