The graphic, similar to those marking the deaths of other famous figures, briefly showed a photo of Ginsburg and the dates 1933-2019.
We need to apologize A technical error in the control room triggered a graphic of RBG with a date on it, co-host Steve Doocy said later in the program. We dont want to make it seem anything other than that was a mistake. That was an accident.
We apologize, big mistake, co-host Ainsley Earhardt added.

So, they already have a graphic ready to go. Is this standard practice or wishful thinking.

(13,926 posts)EXACTLY. I remember another "faux pas" they made when a republican Florida legislator got caught in a male prostitution sting.. They plastered all over that he was a Democrat. I guess there are other "mistakes" they make on purpose.

(10,476 posts)Standard practice to have graphics like this pre-done for older, famous people who may shuffle off soon.
Save the angst for genuine concerns.

(34,101 posts)That way they're not caught off guard scrambling for a suitable photo. This is standard practice for networks. No one wants to be delayed in reporting a death by a an inabilty to post quickly.
A technical error literally only triggered the displah of an existing graphic.

(10,054 posts)This is like those shady repug candidates that send out flyers with the wrong dates / polling addresses to very specific people - not a mistake. Maybe they want to gin up the base that they should stick with trumpy and the repugs because any day now they can get a new judge, I don't even know anymore.....

(1,714 posts)but the Mary Tyler Moore show had a hilarious segment where they wrote a tongue-in-cheek obit for some prominent person--and then that person died. The anchor, Ted Baxter, read it in all seriousness, as the writers watched in horror.
