Facebooks latest dilemma...

I belong to a “closed group” on Facebook called The Progressive Resistance. All hell is breaking lose....

This message comes from a member. I did not write it, but it gives an insight into what’s going on...

“To all the people of the group, who might or MIGHT NOT be in the loop of what was going on: some Alt-Right Neo Nazi scumbags tried to take over the group and forced a name change on us and tried, apparently, to post their Neo Nazi crap here. 8 admins have it under control, but unfortunately, the process to un-fuck up the group takes a WHOPPING THIRTY DAYS. (rant) Zuckerberg, what the hell is this? You'll give Neo-Nazis a free pass, but us who are trying to get these jerks out get attacked? What kind of world is this? (rant over)

But yeah, that's where things stand. It would be best if any members who want to leave, don't, because this isn't the admins' fault, but that of the Neo Nazis who tried to take over the group. We must show these bastards that Neo Nazism isn't welcome in this group, NOR ON FB.”

The new name is “The unholy alliance of autism”.....wtf?

Some unsolicited advice.

First, you should know better than to even think about attempting a siloed political activism group on Facebook, forget the Nazis, you'll be lucky if you don't have the NSA monitoring all of you.

Facebook is NOT your property, the only rights you have there at all, privacy or otherwise, are ones Facebook agrees to, and zuck is not a man of his word when it comes to your data.

If you have a group and you want real privacy, start with securing your own url and webspace; hit go daddy and do everything you need in one place. Once you have your own corner of the web, install a phpbb forum like this one, and set it up for private use. You can even lock out bot crawlers that index for the various search engines.

All of this can be done inside of an hour. No place on the web is 100% secure, but you'll be a hell of a lot closer to having it if you get away social media platforms.

If you elect to pursue such a route and need assistance,?contact me here via pm, I've set up a great many php forums for myself and others.

...pics or information. For the last four years or so, I used Farcebook* exclusively for political commentary. This weekend deleted my account:

I have DELETED my Farcebook* account. Fuck you #MarkZuckerberg. You are a liar and a traitor, who willingly allowed American's private Farcebook* information to be used by Mercer*s Cambridge Analytica* in their quest to aid the Russians* in SELECTING @realDonaldTrump as POTUS.

The only product Farcebook* has is YOU. Don't give TRAITOR Zuckerberg* the power. DELETE YOUR FARCEBOOK* ACCOUNTS!

...Zuckerberg* and his CABAL are NOT good custodians of our information. It's long-past time that Farcebook* be viewed --and regulated-- AS A MEDIA COMPANY.

I get information on what is going on at local museums, libraries and botanical gardens along with theater groups. I keep up with several hobbies along with folks that I would not have done otherwise.

Is it perfect, NO and there is considerable fault to be found with them, but it works for me.

I use it for what it was intended--to keep up with family and friends. I post as little personal information as possible. If Zuckerberg and the Russians find a way to exploit all those cat-related pages and cooking show pages I follow, more power to them.

but, years ago, I liked a couple of progressive pages. Lately, the "you might be interested in" panel has been touting me on pages that try to sound leftish, but are actually far right troll sites. That seems to be something of a trend.
