He opens his show with this:
"This is what voters apparently wanted, Trump vs Pelosi. One is massively unpopular with Americans nationwide and the other is Donald Trump."
And then he said there wasn't a blue wave. He spends the whole show pandering to Republicans.

My advice is to turn off all the cable noise shows.

(7,410 posts)This does if for me. I'm done with Todd. Sometimes, he sounds, well, enlightened. But he turns it on when it's convenient and turns if off when he apparently believes that his ratings are suffering. It's blue-baiting. I'm not interested. The GOP is a failed political party. My only interest in them is watching the blood bath for voyeuristic purposes. I want to see them disintegrate and collapse. They're fascists. Let them rot.

(1,584 posts)He spends a lot of time trying to make the "blue wave" not blue and not a wave. He seems to want the Democrats to feel depressed by their historic mid-term achievement. You know, we didn't hear that kind of reporting when the Democrats picked up two Senate seats even though HRC lost the electoral vote in 2016. In fact, the media was virtually silent about that.
We Democrats have so much to guard against now, including some of our own members both new and incumbent. That's the one thing that the GOP has over us...they will stick together right or wrong.

(38,958 posts)It has everything to do with ratings and ad revenue.
Do yourself a favor and turn off the cable noise. Your life will improve and you really won't miss anything.

(7,142 posts)ratings are secondary, the right wing narrative is primary.
I watched for about 5 minutes, the refrain was a familiar right wing talking point, no mention of 8 million more people voting for Democrats.
It has nothing to do with ratings, I remember when Big Ed was on at 5PM, but he got too chummy with unions.
MSNBC has a history of firing truth tellers. Phil Donahue was opposed to the Iraq war, he got in a fight with Tweety who was for the war, Tweety is now the anchor at 7PM. A lot of popular money making anchors from msnbc got canned, Keith Olbermann, Martim Brashear, Cenk Uygur, Harris/Perry, Dylan Ratigan. All of them had good ratings, all were fired because they strayed from the corporate narrative.

(10,178 posts)In a diatribe against General Kelly some months ago he dissed the Brighton section of Boston as being the cause of Kelly's alleged racism. (I don't know much about Kelly.)
He said that growing up in Brighton Kelly never saw a black person and was surrounded by drunks and wife-beaters.
I grew up in Brighton------very working class area, not perfect, but a nice place to grow up.

(10,811 posts)a leading asshole. As for his Pelosi dig? He's been pushing this line along with other journalist brethren because that's what they do--churn up the dregs, delight in the confrontation and spread the sexist headlines: It's Doom for Nancy Pelosi! But . . . But No One Likes Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi's Time Has Come and Gone. Yada, Yada.
As for the Pigmeister Donald Trump? Never forget or forgive that Chuckles and too many of his Mighty Newsmen gave the Trumpster a gazillion$ in free news coverage because:
He was Good TV.
Chuckles is a news reader and a wannabe provocateur.

(2,949 posts)I stopped watching todd years ago when he said it is not his job to hold politicians feet to the fire, it is the opposing politicians job to do so. I also avoid Mrs. Greenspan. Sent a twitter to MSNBC today complaining about their constant broadcasting of the asshole in the white house.
Nicolle Wallace asked (paraphrase) "How do we oppose this bs from the president?" I sent her twitter suggestion. Stop broadcasting same.

So it seems the only news I'm able to watch is Rachel these days. It's even tough even getting through a 'Last Week Tonight' because of having to skip over the Trump clips.
