Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just saw Barron Trump (a rarity it seems).
He must be 6'2" already. How come we NEVER see him, are they hiding him? This is the only "first child" that is so seldom seen. Even Amy Carter was seen more than him.

Speculation on his similarly to Daddy is premature.

(24,207 posts)There's a reason he was sent off to military school.
What's that they say about being a chip off the old block or acorns not falling far from the tree.
If only we had some examples of other children Trump had and how they turned out.
If only there were a Don Jr, or an Eric to show us the kind of kids he raises.

Trump and Peter Brant would take the subway into Manhattan without their parents knowing, Blair said. (Trump mentioned taking the F train near his home in a New York Times interview.)
The two would go to a magic store on West 49th Street and Broadway, according to Blair. "There they bought stink bombs and smoke bombs and plastic vomit," she wrote. "Another favorite was hot peppered gum, which they gave to unsuspecting schoolmates. After seeing 'West Side Story,' they became fascinated with switchblades."
When his father found the switchblades, Trump was sent to the New York Military Academy, Brant said in Blair's book.

(13,877 posts)And we wonder about Barron? Dad doesn't want him...didn't ever want him...and Mom...just ugh...the word Smother Mother comes to mind. He was her ticket to fame and fortune. And being an only child on top of that? You think he hasn't seen internet photos of his nude Mom from his golden tower? Rapunzel comes to mind. That will scar a kid's anima right there.

Makes the Republicans plays on Obama's name kind of mild. OBummer comes to mind. He just didn't inspire such withering names. They hated him with a hot passion. I don't get that hot hatred with Democrats, as it seems he's more laughable. I can't hate him...he's just pathetic and a weird caricature . The cartoonists are having a field day.

(13,877 posts)Having been a teacher, it's my guess that he'd be seriously...at least verbally...bullied. Lots of junior high school boys are online looking at porn. Imagine knowing your mother could pop up at any time. That right there is enough to seriously scar a boy. And you know daddy abuses him verbally...like he does everyone else.
Also, he has something going on in the brain which, not a psych, but I can see. That also answers the school question and the closeness to his mother, and to his father's dismissal of him.

(58,785 posts)pretty much the same as Chelsea Clinton.
How soon we forget, for instance, how Fox and other right-wing media trolled for assassins; but before and after the major right-wing media were doing it social media and others were doing it. That first year especially I was terribly afraid Obama would be assassinated.
The Obama girls were themselves targeted with new death threats every day, but in spite of that even, there were a shocking number of Secret Service and WH police scandals arising from despicable refusal or neglect of some to do their jobs even adequately.
I imagine Barron's mother has been the one responsible for keeping Barron as separated from and unassociated with this presidency -- itself -- as possible, not just from nasty comments on social media. She was extremely unhappy when Trump won and must have realized it was all going to get very bad and be something Barron would carry with him and have to deal with forever.

(42,585 posts)Maybe you didn't see what you think you saw.
What i recall, and what was widely reported (and shown in film clips) is that during the inauguration parade, Trump, Melania, and Barron were walking down Pennsylvania Avenue and Melania reached over to hold Barron's hand and, not unlike the reaction of many 10 year olds, he pulled his hand away, not wanting to be seen holding his mom's hand.

(1,483 posts)I remember him being at a "thing" on stage with his family and I he was playing peekaboo with one of the Trump babies. It was such a sweet, endearing gesture.
He was so in the moment connecting with the baby and he didn't seem to give a shit about the crowd and the cameras and the attention.
I'm reading a lot into a moment. But I thought that anyone that can block out that level of distraction and be there for a baby or an animal to make sure they are okay - is probably equipped with an empathy chip.
tldr; I think he's going to be a human.

(11,252 posts)He's the son of a man who will go down as one of the most reviled figures in American history. BigmanPigman
(51,567 posts)I have a keen eye, former artist/illustrator and former teacher (handwriting, printing and forgery expert), and you really may be onto something there. The school VP and I had to go through my students' writing journals, in both cursive and print, of all 38 of my 6th graders to find out who was framing another student for something. We caught the student through the handwriting samples.
I am sure the Donald called himself Barron (a not so clever ruse) in the past when pretending to call into radio programs promoting himself in the 80s or 90s so he probably has no problem writing it as his own name too. He is a really sick, sick, sick individual.
Lefta Dissenter
(6,622 posts)I had completely forgotten about John Barron. Duh! It really is fascinating that he would go on to choose that name for his son. I wish we could just enjoy some wild speculation about his mental state and not have to worry about the security and future of our globe.
Separation
(1,975 posts)Even at 20 he is unable to write his name in cursive. He is about an 11 or 12-year-olds mentality. He knows that he is "different", I always ask him though, "What is normal?" Its a very specific question that has countless answers, I always want my son to know that just because he may be "different" he is very normal for my son.
He recently has started to go through what I am calling, "His second growth spurt". He has been an inch or two taller than me for some years. This, this is different, he is starting to age if you will. We have always called him Marky, it's an endearing name, but a name that he is starting to see as a babyname. So now we call him Junior, or Mark John. Ya can't have two Mark's in the same house, itll sound like a dog with a hair lip lives there, Mark mark mark.
As soon as I saw Barron, I knew that he has some sort of learning disability. I cant even begin to imagine what he has to put up with in his house. We adore our son, shower him with love, protect him from those that would take advantage of him. I imagine that's why we dont see Barron as much as any of the other first children. Seeing how his parents could be on the list of "Top 10 Evil Couples" it could be their form of protecting him. Trump probably thinks that people would make fun of his child, because that's his own M.O. if he were to be in the public. Then again, I cant even imagine living inside of a glass bowl, or how that would even affect my kids.

I saw how Barron acted and watched his body, behavior, etc. It has nothing to do with politics. What pissed me off at the time, and still does, is that if he has special needs than his own father shouldn't be publicly ridiculing and mocking reporters and anyone else who has special needs.
