Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI found a church in Cleveland-diverse. The Pastor says they lock the doors during service for
security reasons...what a world we live in. I can't imagine how any person can accept that as 'normal' It is time to band together and enact reasonable gun control (as soon as we have the Senate and Presidency) I find the status quo unacceptable.
I will join this church. It is a very loving church. They do many community based good works....just what I wanted. But who could ever imagine that going to church would become an act of courage under the monster that is Trump and his evil minions.

I'm not saying they are necessarily wrong to do so, just pointing out the horrific Hobson's Choice.

I honestly think that pastor has a false sense of security. Anyone that wants to can get into all but good security doors within seconds.

The church cannot violate the fire codes, or else they can be shut down by the fire martial.....

(31,924 posts)and, I agree, I don't know how anyone can find this acceptable. But since in their infinite wisdom, Ohioans elected a Republican governor who loves the NRA, it's not going to change much here for a while. I find it very depressing, as well.

(68,471 posts)Keep in mind that Sherrod Brown won re-election easily. I honestly don't believe if we put up a good candidate that Trump will carry Ohio. Also with the vote to end gerrymanders, things should improve despite the current situation.

Much as all laws, all economies and all philosophies as well. The fun is picking one, the chore is applying that consistently.

(3,532 posts)Much like locking the doors in buildings unless they have panic hardware installed so you can get out even if the door is locked.

(49,951 posts)I don't do church, but I remember that after the church shooting in Charleston, my mother-in-law's church had meetings to decide how they wanted to protect their congregants. This included having at least one member conceal carry during every service.
That was in 2015.
