The White House Wants Your Opinion on Reclassifying Cannabis

The White House Wants Your Opinion on Reclassifying Cannabis
Between now and Oct. 31, the US Food and Drug Administration is accepting public comment on how cannabis should be classified under international drug treaties. A World Health Organization is set to meet next month in Geneva to discuss “the legitimate use, harmful use, status of national control and potential impact of international control,” of cannabis and other substances, including synthetic cannabinoids and fentanyls.

“These comments will be considered in preparing a response from the United States to the World Health Organization (WHO) regarding the abuse liability and diversion of these drugs,” FDA’s associate commissioner for policy, Leslie Kux, wrote this month in the public request for comments. “WHO will use this information to consider whether to recommend that certain international restrictions be placed on these drugs.”

5. Cannabis classification

Who the hell cares if cannabis is legalized or how it is classified? We do care if one of our citizens are dismembered and no one is punished for killing him. DJT and his cohorts/criminals in congress just blow it off. There are terrible problems that desperately need solving. None of us are safe anymore with DJT in the WH.

7. Ask the millions of people who have been arrested and jailed for simple crimes of possession

over the last 5 decades.
Most of them people of color, targeted and prosecuted more than whites intentionally.
Lots of lives have been ruined because of this rigged system.
Your apathy and lack of concern for these people is noted but the rest of us are grownups able to be active on several fronts as we work to push this country forward.

Speaking of work if you are going to make an argument maybe you should use real facts, like the fact that Jamal Ahmad Khashoggi was a legal resident, working in the USA, not a citizen as you stated.
That does not make his murder any less tragic and horrible but it does put you in a terribly weak place in a debate over the topic if you make that mistake again when discussing this issue that you are so passionate about to the abandonment of all other areas of concern..

It is possible to care about Khashoggi's murder, the devastation this White House is doing to America, AND whether weed is scheduled the same as heroin - all at the same time.

I know of no better issue that might light a fire under those who are apathetic and disenfranchised from the vote.

also the issues of jobs and taxes to defray the social ills caused by those who abuse it, like booze companies pay
It's all there in this one issue.

MJ legalization is popular in about 60% of the country so all of a sudden "the White House" wants your opinion about it right as early voting is going on 18 days before he election.

At the same time Trump announces "they are 'looking' at a middle class tax cut".

Guess there is no coincidence that these popular things people actually want that the Republican party would never actually do that they are suddenly so chatty about during an early voting period of an election.

Trump has so many enemies he wants in prison (but prisons are already overcrowded), and he’s so desperate for a great economy, I could see him pushing legalization due to the benefits on both fronts.

Maybe trap and distraction.
Trap, distraction, and a way to gauge a new campaign talking point. (Tax cuts for the obscenely wealthy isn't playing very well and the angry mobs keep smiling and waving while marching).
