Yes, Reality based people/Liberals need to run for the Board of Education in Texas.
At least Hillary is in good company with Helen Keller and so is Helen Keller.

(63,221 posts)This is so effed up. I can kind of understand why the right-wing nutcases would want to eliminate Hillary, although I think it's pointless, but why Helen Keller?
What is wrong with these people?

(25,111 posts)among many other good things. Kinda reminds me from the history books wherein Hilter had the books burned.
These people are educated? Do they believe in education wherein you must hide, erase, omit facts? Some people do not believe that the holocaust happened.
SICK.

(12,232 posts)Speaks volumes that they believe military better represents the concept of citizenship than Keller. This purposefully minimizes the fact that engaged and activist citizens can effect change. Keller inspired countless people, including those with disabilities and those without, to advocate for disability rights and full participation in society.
It seems they do not want to give such an example the acknowledgment and influence it is due.

Neither Poth nor Matthews said she was in the small group that made the decisions about Clinton and Keller. In a note next to the deletion from the third-grade social studies curriculum in which Keller was included in a lesson about "the characteristics of good citizenship," the work group wrote, "Helen Keller does not best represent the concept of citizenship. Military and first responders are best represented."

It seems that Texas Republicans are hell-bent on making us embarrassments in every corner of the planet.
