Yes, on one hand it's fantasy. But remember, Agnew and Nixon weren't impeached. 3Hotdogs Sep 2018 #6

Such chatter only mobilizes the right wing nutz to vote, block the vote etc...

Just focus on taking the House for now...

Even if both are impeached by the House at the same time, GOP Senators will never contribute enough votes (about 1/3 GOP Senators are needed plus all Dems) to get a 2/3 majority in both trials to remove BOTH Trump and Pence before a replacement VP is put in place. Honestly, they will not do so for one, regardless of the evidence.

They might vote yes on the first one, but if a new *Republican* VP isn't confirmed before the second trial, they will vote no, no matter the evidence.

I suppose there is one way it could happen, and it would only depend upon two people's decisions (instead of 1/3 of GOP Senators). If Trump and Pence both resigned simultaneously, then it would go to the Speaker directly. How likely are Trump AND Pence to resign concurrently? About as likely as 1/3 of GOP Senators voting to remove Pence, IMO.

Let's say Drms win the House. We all know what is coming. GOP pressure Trump and Pence (he will be tainted) to resign before the new House is seated.

Ryan gets promoted to President and runs against a Dem in 2020 as an incumbent.

I could see this happening
