99 percent of Hurricane Matthew aid requested by NC denied by Trump administration

This article is from May 10, 2017. I posted it to point out that eastern NC is still trying to recover from hurricane Matthew , thanks to Trump. Gov. Roy Cooper's a Democrat, therefore not a Trump loyalist. That's the only explanation I can think of for denying aid. It'll be interesting to see if he's more forthcoming with aid due to the midterms. Either way Trump doesn't give a shit about the people of this country.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) - The State of North Carolina requested $929 million from the federal government to help with costs associated with Hurricane Matthew, but the state will be receiving far less than that, according to an announcement by Gov. Roy Cooper

North Carolina will receive only $6.1 million from the Trump administration. That's 99 percent less than the requested amount.

In a letter Cooper sent to the president and other officials today, he expressed "shock and disappointment in the lack of federal funding for Hurricane Matthew recovery efforts."The governor had worked with Sen. Thom Tillis and Representatives David Price (D) and Rep. David Rouzer (R) in April to come up with a request to Congress to help cover the costs associated with the destruction left by Matthew.

The $929 million requested would have been used to "help communities and families fix homes, repair businesses and recover from the historic flooding," Cooper said.

Can governors do it on their own? What if dams break? Who is in charge of the cleanup and possible rebuild?

in the upcoming elections...these people need the aid, and not 1 dollar should go to any non USA entity until our own citizens are taken care of first. States should pass a law that they won't support a federal tax if the federal government won't support them in return. I know that this is highly unlikely and irregular, but times like this are highly irregular.

Bigots and racists are in control of our federal government...

8. Trump's FEMA also denied flood damage relief funding from May 2018 flooding in Asheville NC
Tue Sep 11, 2018, 08:50 AM
Sep 2018

Democratic Asheville area had over 14 inches of rain in May, causing close to 2 million dollars damage to public parks and facilities in May and expected at least $1 million in federal relief, but was denied and no money is forthcoming. Rightwing Congressman Mark Meadows has told Asheville not to expect anything.

I would not be surprised in the least if Trump Admin gives South Carolina all the help it requests and more, while stiffing North Carolina from getting adequate relief after this storm, just to politically hurt Gov. Cooper and the Democratic leaning cities of NC.

This administration has already turned their backs and left thousands to needlessly die. Only the Uber wealthy will be getting access to the public treasury.

NC might have a repeat of 2017.

With the Orange Clown BFF Sen Lindsey Graham sucking up, SC will have aid like yesterday.

Don't you know there are billionaires who need more tax cuts? How are we ever going to pass another round of tax cut give-aways to the wealthy when we're spending it on average Americans in financial distress?
