Jill Stein is tweeting as frantically as DT is about the Russia investigation being a "distraction"

From yesterday:

"Russiagate" is part of the establishment parties' strategy to silence any discussion of international relations outside the bipartisan consensus of endless war & global military domination. How else could they take trillions of dollars for war while American communities crumble?

I have to wonder what has her so antsy. Perhaps there are revelations concerning the Manafort case?

Russian counterintelligence agents, and also easy to believe she felt betrayal was virtue.

Her VP choice, Baraka, is an unbalanced whackadoodle so consumed by anti-American hostility that he wouldn't have offered any sport to the FSB's professional hunters. He was on Sputnik International just a week or so ago pushing standard Russian anti-American propaganda. Back when that Malaysian flight was shot down over the Ukraine, he claimed it was done to be blamed on poor, innocent Russia. It seems entirely believable that his willingness to push Russian propaganda was his top qualification.

She ends up being an easy mark unwittingly.

Russian Propaganda finds a home in the anti-imperialist Left. For people like Stein, the world is not a mixed bag of different imperialist hegemonies, each vying for dominance. In her perspective, the only imperialist power with dubious intent is the United States and her allies. She finds common cause with those who want to bring down the Liberal Order so she is one of many useful idiots who sees Russia as entirely benign. Other useful idiots include Assange, Greenwald etc.

She's a good example of how the tunnel vision of some on the left fails those who are fighting oppression in their own countries. In one breath, these useful idiots will critique capitalism and the war machine and in the other, defend maniacs and dictators who dress their rhetoric in anti-imperialism while being some of the worst scumbags ever to walk the earth.

either slide into left wing extremism by feeding a disposition to it, or were hard wired to it from the beginning.

A psychologist who studies extremism while comparing the many similarities between extremists on the left and right also humorously and succinctly summarized a main way they differ:

* Extremists on the right "hate everyone else."
* Extremists on the left "hate themsleves." That is, anything they see themselves as identified with.

And, yup! Extremist tendencies vary in intensity, of course, but recognize that typical defining characteristic for the left and everything you describe starts making sense.

Caption:
Konstantin Kilimnik, an elusive figure under indictment for alleged witness tampering by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, is seen seated on the far left in a March 2006 photo obtained by The Associated Press as part of a collection of internal corporate memos and business records from the international political consulting offices of Donald Trump’s ex-campaign chairman, Paul Manafort. Mueller has indicated that Kilimnik is in Russia and has ties to Russian intelligence, which Kilimnik disputes. The photograph represents one of the few images known to exist of Kilimnik. Also in the photo, seated from left: Kilimnik, Martha Young, Catherine Barnes, Tad Devine, Paul Manafort, Phillip Griffin; standing from left: Lee Avrashov, an unidentified individual and Christian Ferry.

My husband wanted to know who the women were. I couldn't find anything about Martha Young - too common a name. Catherine Barnes might be the author of Politics of Compromise: The Tajikistan Peace Process (Accord) and work with Conciliation Resources. I'm not sure what this organization is - it claims to have worked toward peace in a number of countries.

Catherine Barnes has worked with Conciliation Resources in various capacities, including Accord Programme Manager, Series Editor, Programme Associate and also Policy Advisor. She holds a doctoral degree from the Institute for Conflict Analysis and Resolution and is an independent consultant on peacebuilding.

We are proud to have been building peace for over 20 years. We were established in 1994 by Andy Carl and David Lord, supported by a group of advisers and volunteers.

Our staunch conviction when we were founded – and continuing to this day – was that people living in areas affected by armed conflict should be involved in its resolution. We began our work with just two second-hand computers and donated office space.

We are still committed to working at a human-scale, where the work is made possible by the trust earned. We have grown significantly and now draw on years of experience to provide practical support to hundreds of people living in the midst of conflict.

Our earliest project work began in Fiji, followed by work in Sierra Leone and Liberia, and then the South Caucasus and Uganda. We have since expanded our reach to include work in other countries across East and Central Africa, the Horn of Africa, Latin America, South Asia, Southeast Asia and West Africa. Early on we also started our publication series Accord. The renown of this series has grown and it is now a common reference point for people working in peacebuilding around the world.

I'm not angry with you RandySF, it wasn't your fault Stein sold herself and her country out to Putin and his oligarchs. I merely had hoped I'd never see that picture of "those people" ever again. It's a good reminder of how easily some people can be manipulated, though.
