(86,332 posts)We should never forget the milestones in our history which resulted in the freedoms and rights we have now that we did not have before these events. This is something that should be in our collective conscience, right on the surface when formulating our speech in political discourse. (I know it is for many but there are too many for whom that is not the case.)

(86,332 posts)But that is, apparently, by design. An uninformed public is more easily controlled. Look at the steady decline in our education system since the late 1960s. Civics is not taught in most schools, it's now an elective... goes down from there until we end up with distzy devoss, the rest is obvious.

(7,808 posts)It was one of the speeches I played for advanced students. It was to demonstrate how words created a picture, how cadence played a part in good form, and, in no small part, to spread MLK's good words to those who may not have heard them.
