LOL.... another own-goal by this White House... the flag is now back at half-staff again

Bowing to criticism by the VFW and the American Legion, they lowered the flag again.

Realizing that he was taking a beating by veterans groups, he relented.

And so he amplified a damaging narrative about himself for a news cycle for absolutely no reason.

he gets his insult or his bigotted wink and nod into the headlines and then goes along with the "proper" thing to do. mission accomplished. he doesn't need the flag at full staff forever, he only needed it there long enough for the insult to register.

He's a weak coward at heart. He has no core principles. When the pressure is great enough he backs down. And as for all of his blustering tweets, he isn't able to look someone in the eye and say things like that. Only underlings, of course and especially women and minorities.

For example, with all his railing against Obama, when he had is first White House meeting with him, he was sweet as pie. Same with Putin or anyone else with authority.

Obama, on the other hand, looked straight at Putin and told him to cut out the Russian interference. Trumpsky would and could never do anything like that.

...on the day of and the day after the death of a member of Congress. Of course, that duration can very easily be extended and it usually is for someone of Senator McCain's stature but this is Chump we're talking about so he didn't leave it up for one minute more than he needed to.

By the way, for the record, the WH flag has again been lowered to half-mast so Chumpy definitely blinked

The flag, when flown at half-staff, should be first hoisted to the peak for an instant and then lowered to the half-staff position. The flag should be again raised to the peak before it is lowered for the day.

But I gather his hubris is just too large for even practical political decisions to get to the surface.
Like, why not just bloody-well leave the flag at half mast.....even if you detest the man. It would at least not garner any bad press. Not that his deplorables care.

Or NOT saying there's good people on both sides?
Or insisting you won the popular vote?
Or meet with Putin in private, the leader of the country that cyber attacked the US?

He just does not even think ahead enough, or blithely ignores his advisors, on the most basic political moves and/or statements. Ones that should be no-brainers. Not talking ethically here, just basic political optics.

And that is frankly, what scares me about some future Trump, only one with political smarts who knows not to step his foot into it so much especially when he doesn't have to. I can only imagine that Trump without Twitter, ever, would probably be polling much higher. If he had handed in his Twitter account after being sworn in, and also only read prepared for him by writers, all public statements. If he were smarter, and humbler, that is, he could have allowed a crack PR team to transform him into the shining American businessman and maverick hero for the little guy, did what they told him, read what they wrote for him.

But no.....his own dumb self-centered brain would never allow that.

Mon Aug 27, 2018, 06:07 PM

US Flag Code, 4 U.S.C. § 7(m) states that the proper etiquette is for the flag to be at half-staff on the day of the death of a sitting Congress member, and the following day.

It was- and is-proper for it to be at full height today.

But apparently too many people thought it should be down again, so he buckled and put it down again.

Unless somebody else died. (?)

The man not only has no soul, and no moral compass- he doesn’t even have the balls to do the right thing against public outcry.

Wonder what General Kelly (who works right next to the Oval Office) had to say about all this? Not honoring the late John McCain is exactly what we expect from a vindictive, ass-hole, 9-year old, spoiled f---ing brat such as our poser president. General Kelly better have whooped Trump's ass over this.
