Given today's warning out of f Tehran and its outspoken military stance of the past few weeks, this map, we originally ran on December 12, offers a bit of perspective.
This is the world Iran sees from inside its borders. This map from Democratic Underground puts a star on every U.S. military base in the region, and aside from the Caspian area to the North, American forces pretty much have Tehran surrounded (via Informed Comment).

Fars news agency reported that Ataollah Salehi said "We usually don't repeat our warning, and we warn only once. We recommend and emphasize to the American carrier not to return to the Persian Gulf." (via Bloomberg)

(10,340 posts)For example, if we were to have a reserve air base or refueling station in Iraq, it would be for war-making purposes - not just because we felt the local people might enjoy having it around.
