General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsHow does everyone feel about news anchors/"Journalists"/personalities that are kids of politicians?
We've got Chris Cuomo, son of former NYS Governor, Mario Cuomo and brother of current NYS Governor, Andrew Cuomo. Mika Brzezinski, daughter of former Secretary of Defense, Zbigniew Brzezinski. Maria Shriver, daughter of Sargent Shriver. Cokie Roberts, daughter of Hale Boggs. Meghan McCain, daughter of John McCain. And last but not least, Abby Huntsman, daughter of Russian Stooge and allegedly "sane" (like Susan Collins is supposedly "moderate" Jon Huntsman Jr.
Personally, this bugs shit out of me regardless of their political stances. This nepotism shit is out of hand.
What do you think?

(4,429 posts)They are entertainment folks. I won't watch any of them, really. The exception was Cokie Roberts. And Maria Shriver never bothered me one way or the other.
But I can't stand Cuomo, Brzezinski or McCain. It's all for show, with them.

I'm not sure it's all that unusual. There are many lawyers, doctors, ministers, policemen and firemen, etc. who follow in their parents' professions. The political kids are just more prominent because their parents' names are well known.

(29,098 posts)If someone has talent in their chosen profession should they be penalized because of what their parent does for a living?
Should companies not hire someone on the "soft" value a candidate brings to their jobs because of their connections? It happens in almost every industry.
Now in the case of many of these folks that have been listed there is good argument that they don't present substantial skills on air that a robot couldn't do...and their job performance does not appear to warrant their high visibility and salary. Job performance in entertainment industry is subjective and suspect for many...even those who are not connected. At least that can be dismissed as luck.
It is an rotten fact though that in this country Money and Who you Know...can get you far.
