3. Can the millennials here say what they think of this?

I don't know if they can be stereotyped and that one technique will work on most, but maybe. Ot maybe we find various techniques. On twitter yesterday one milennial claiming to speak for the rest was saying how stupid a texting campaign to get millennials to vote is stupid. The delete political texts w/o reading. They said Rs won the meme war and that's why Dems lost.

Another thing that concerns me is a NYTimes or NYTimes mag Op ed type piece I read maybe a year ago written by a millennial, claiming to speak for most millennials, talking about how they rejected all this bickering that the oldsters did over politics. S/he also said (paraphrase), "Why would I care what another person thinks? Why would I want to change anyone else's mind?" (Anyone else see this. I can't seem to find it on line.)

My thoughts were that the stakes are very high in politics and require fighting to achieve goals. And that the reason you would care what others think and want to change their minds is because people's thoughts lead to their actions. People who believe minorities are inferior, people who support Naziism are likely to do very bad things to non-white people.

I don't know if that person actually did speak for other millennials, but if they did, I find that very concerning.

But they do give non-mellennials a smug satisfaction from preaching to them.

don't appreciate older people trying to manipulate them. That's been going on their whole lives and they have had it up to here with it. Threatening them, for example, just isn't going to go over too well.

Blaming them for Trump doesn't go very far, either. The ones who are paying attention to politics know perfectly well that the majority of old people voted for Trump, yet very few Democrats are criticizing that whole age group for the catastrophe that is the Trump presidency.

This is what the millennials I know have to say - my relatives and their partners and friends, mostly, and a few co-workers too.

It's a fact that the majority of voters over 45 cast their ballots for Trump.

Young people can learn a lot from older folks. Sharing knowledge and wisdom based on experience isn't "manipulation."

Many have mortgage level student loan debt. When it comes to retirement security, pensions are all but eliminated (even for new employees in government jobs).

Financial people say to max out Roth IRAs in your 20s. Hard to do that when Sallie Mae wants that money.

Yes, it's a good graphic. But don't use it as the basis for pointing your finger at millennials. I don't know how many milliennals didn't vote or voted third party, but there were plenty of non-millennials who didn't vote or voted third party too. That's exactly why the preaching/blaming is so off-putting.

For the record, I'm a boomer. But today I supervise millennials and I don't think they deserve the shit that's constantly being slung at them. It's sure not the way to get them on your side.

It drives me crazy to see that attitude so much on display here.

if our votes don't matter, why do they try to stop us from voting? The other party thinks our votes matter. All votes matter!

Even when we live in the bluest/reddest states, there are plenty of local elections, ballot initiatives, and other important stuff to vote on that makes a difference in choosing who draws congressional district lines and which judges rule on it.

. . .and I'll use it on future canvassing runs for candidates.

In my state (MY), I've changed the last sentence to read:

Your vote matters. Use it on September 13 and November 6.

The moderates having a meeting to talk about reigning in the more left part of the democratic party doesnt help.

the more left needs to come together with the moderate left and join up as a team.. put forth a team message.

Pelosi needs to stop saying some democratic legislatures like Ryan are not factors

The head of the democratic party needs to get all these people in the same room and start moving in the same direction.
