Just about every country in the world where democracy has failed, has ended up under a military junta. For some countries it has happened repeatedly...over and over again.

People are getting pissed and scared liked hasn't been seen for at least a generation and there will be a crackdown after prolonged protest. Perhaps a general strike or something. When he released the statement after tRump's man-crush with Putin in Helsinki, Coats was putting country first. That was a nice surprise.

While, I'm deeply suspicious of him still, I hope he doesn't resign in protest because it seems to me that he's doing it out of duty and not supplicating to tRump. We need someone who puts country first in that job. I hope I'm not wrong about the guy.

I'm grateful for him. I can see he's got the country at heart.

If it's any comfort, he said in that same interview that as long as he can get and speak the truth, he'll stay. (This may be a bad paraphrase of what he said, but I'm pretty sure I got the gist of it right.) I thought that was quite statesmanlike, and I appreciated it a lot.
