(54,770 posts)as well as the Senators who approve. Obviously, it's not working very well right now unless one is a white winger. But, I wouldn't want Justices subject to the whims of voters and contributors.

than the current lot of lobbyist owned politicos? I like
the idea more and more...

Put Judge Adam Jones on the opposite side of a ticket with Steve Bannon and there is a good chance we will have Bannon as a SC justice.

and judge per the law..
Let them be nominated from the ranks of existing judges at
all the different levels of govt. Let them campaign on their
records and in debate. Of course there is the chance of getting
some extremists, but they aren't in the capacity to push new
laws and create chaos in our society, ...like those in congress.
They rule on issues..rule is the key word here. Still like the idea.

People declare they are going to run for a position...they
campaign for causes we liberals believe in...People would
decide whether the individual would make a good judge,
just like they favor any person for an elected position.

(2,785 posts)because that would force the congress to work together to ensure reasonable picks are considered. Both proposal would require a constitutional amendment which is nearly impossible in today's world.
