In many states, 17yo's can register to vote if they will be 18 on or before Election Day. Encourage them to register to vote!

I would not recommend the Army, of course. I would recommend the Navy. You're less likely to get shot at, or indicted for war crimes.

I cast my first vote by absentee ballot in the 1972 Presidential Primary. I was somewhere in the Pacific, serving aboard the USS Mahan. I voted for Shirley Chisolm. Never regretted that vote.

My dad asked me over the dinner table one night who I thought I’d vote for. I said “Shirley Chisholm.” He looked at me, aghast, and shouted - “Shirley CHISHOLM?????” Didn’t change my mind.

That’s how long I’VE been wanting a woman president.
