I was reading Josh Marshall’s article about how Trump was off the rails at his meeting with GOP tonight and thought “he is crazy enough to refuse to leave.”

My crazy brother said the same shit about Obama. One way or the other, he'll leave. As nutso as Shitgibbon is, he's just a wimp. He only plays a tough guy on TV.

Whomever is elected will be POTUS, not the Dotard. And the Secret Service, the US Marshals, the National Park Service, the entirety of the DOD apparatus, and/or everyone else who is in a position to physically act in any official capacity in regards to this matter will recognize the new POTUS as POTUS, not the Dotard. They have no loyalty to the man -- most of them probably think he's a f*cking degenerate. And even if they like him, they would have to have a death wish to attempt a coup -- anyone who does so will die fighting those loyal to their own oaths to the constitution, or die in jail.

It would require, for example, that federal employees continue to take direction from a man who is no longer President. It would require the cooperation of the courts and of Congress. It would require most of the country to go along with it

I see no reason to indulge in such fantasies

how much more insane than what we're seeing now?

It would certainly be in accord with the leaders he praises - Kim Jong Un and Putin - and not the (former?) allies he insults.

And while I'd like to believe even most Republicans would think that is going too far, last year someone decided to do polling on the question of "postponing" the next presidential election and found that most Republicans would be OK with that if Trump proposed it!

... the survey asked two questions about postponing the 2020 election.

If Donald Trump were to say that the 2020 presidential election should be postponed until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote, would you support or oppose postponing the election?

What if both Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress were to say that the 2020 presidential election should be postponed until the country can make sure that only eligible American citizens can vote? Would you support or oppose postponing the election?

<snip>

52 percent said that they would support postponing the 2020 election, and 56 percent said they would do so if both Trump and Republicans in Congress proposed this.

Republicans know they didn’t win the election, they know trump is a criminal installed by a foreign government who TAMPERED with our election. Nothing has been done to date about that.

Never thought I'd think of Nixon as a model of decorum-- resigning before impeachment even.

Maizie Hirono-- cussed! Love her tonight-- still battling cancer, but fighting for children.

I do once in awhile have to ask myself if this really happened. And yes, the thought has crossed my mind that he could pull some kind of stunt. I'm almost certain this colossal shitshow won't end well. He'll be flinging poop everywhere before it's over. And I only hope and pray he and anyone who supports him get what they deserve.
