Now it's on Lawrence.

The govt. is operating 3 "tender age" shelters with hundreds of babies and toddlers in South Texas.

Reporters have not been allowed to take photographs or speak to any children.

Lawrence is saying Trump is "arresting babies" because Mexico is refusing to pay for the wall.

During a press briefing Tuesday, reporters repeatedly asked for an age breakdown of the children who have been taken. Officials from both law enforcement and Health and Human Services said they didn’t know how many children were under 5, under 2, or even so little they’re non-verbal.

“The facilities that they have for the most part are not licensed for tender age children,” said Michelle Brane, director of migrant rights at the Women’s Refugee Commission, who met with a 4-year-old girl in diapers in a McAllen warehouse where Border Patrol temporarily holds migrant families. “There is no model for how you house tons of little children in cots institutionally in our country. We don’t do orphanages, our child welfare has recognized that is an inappropriate setting for little children.”

So now, the government has to try to hire more caregivers.

Bruce Babbitt was the Democratic Governor who wanted to build a prison.
There were tons of protests because nobody wanted a prison in their backyard.
When I moved to Texas, I was shocked to see towns FIGHT over who could get a prison. The jobs were so scarce that the only way folks could get a paycheck was to take care of their incarcerated neighbors and there was a second sense of hardening in these communities. These same communities supported draconian legislation because it kept their cells filled and their jobs safe.
The Valley is a very economically depressed area. The concentration camps working for these government contractors are jobs that they need.
I expect that the people won’t risk their jobs to expose these atrocities.
I hope I am just jaded.

Lawrence O'D reported that there are three facilities. It wouldn't surprise me if someone even tried to shop some photos around. It takes all kinds.

I just watched those four videos taken today of the shaming of Secy Nielsen at the Mexican restaurant. What's going on right now and what can happen in the next week could be unbelievable. I expect that groups will be going to these centers filled with babies and make a helluva stink.

Virginia in the 1600's. But my Great Grandpa was a full blooded Cherokee...quite a scandal back then. When his wife died his four girls were taken away and were put in an orphanage. At least they were able to stay together. It followed my Grandma her entire life. On my Dad's side we are Irish and German Jewish...every member of my Dad's family on his Mom's side perished in the holocaust. Our family is the only remaining branch. They died in concentration camps ...but some we don't how...they moved east from Germany so it could have been in any of the ghettos. The Irish side (Dad) were gun runners and fought the English...came here to escape the hangman's noose. So I come from people who were persecuted and who were the persecutors (English) and who fought back. I would like to believe some ended up in the ghettos in Poland who fought back or were partisans but we will never know...maybe this is why the horror of family separation has hit me so hard. I am so angry and horrified. Babies used as political pawns...the GOP has sunk to a new low.
