"SNIP......
TUCKER CARLSON (HOST): What our kids are being taught, and what Starbucks is teaching us, is that certain groups are more prone to racism than others, and that's a lie, as you know, because all people are fundamentally the same, in that they're capable of great good and great bad, and racism is one of the great bads, but they're all capable of that.
There's -- no group has a monopoly on racism in this or any other country, and to suggest otherwise is itself racist, right?

(22,336 posts)I don't understand why anyone would put them before people of color. Why worry about their comfort? Why not worry about the comfort of a group of people who vote overwhelmingly for Democrats?

Carlson's such a creep. It's as if his moral compass has a reverse polarity.

Yeah tucker you got no idea whos ass has been on that seat.
On a more serious note, it is corporations like Starbucks that are the thin line keeping our republic from falling into overt fascism. That is not a good situation.

(47,564 posts)Yes. It stands to reason that groups that benefit from a racist system would tend to be more prone to racism.
Or did he mean "bigotry"? People get that one wrong all the time.

(5,611 posts)I think he is much more dangerous than say Hannity.
He argues the white people are victims every night practically, and he covers constantly illegals who commit crimes or dont respect Americans He unsympathetically covers African-Americans (he has discussed Joy Reid too many times to justify his coverage as news and his level of condescension is astonishing). He has also had on figures associated with/beloved by the alt right. He also claims the Russia investigation is a persecution of Trump, no collusion, etc.
Frankly I find it amazing that he has barely been criticized for his crap it is worse than Hannity because Tucker pretends that he has analyzed these things.

(4,483 posts)but if their racism doesn't mean anything except that they're jerks, it doesn't matter. Why can't these guys understand that they (white men) are not victims here? When has Tucker Carlson's life been impinged upon by some black person's racism toward white people?
Either he's really stupid, or he loves being the victim so much that he's willing to overlook the obvious--or, probably, both.

(90,779 posts)...written up in the Employee Manual, which you give give to every employee now, and then to every new hire.
You create a competent EEO/AA department and have them create an employee training program going forth, starting with face to face groups and continuing with online training.
Once a year everybody in a supervisory position has to retake the onlne training course, pass it, and sign a statement that they understand it. Or you can just extend that to every employee from the ground up, because this business depends utterly on public good will.
We know how to do this. I'm not talking about reinventing the wheel here -- my template is County employment in California. It's not that hard; it just takes determination from the top and a recognition that this is important.
Starbucks has always been known as a good employer: they pay a decent wage and have good benefits. Thus, unlike Walmart, they are a good neighbor-- their employees are not routinely on food stamps or other state and county services.
As a consequence, I believe Starbucks means to make this work, and will make it work.

(31,261 posts)Starbucks is trying to insure that every person that come into one of it's stores is respected, Carlson is trying to use the effort to racially divide.
