Right-wing lobbyist: Its not a journalists job to point out when the president lies

American Conservative Union chairman Matt Schlapp and his wife, an employee of Team Trump, walked out of the White House Correspondents Dinner during Michelle Wolfs performance on Sunday night.
He said hed had enough of elites mocking all of us. She said its why America hates the out-of-touch leftist media elites.
And, beyond just being offended by the nastiness of the comedians barbs, Schlapp had a problem with her calling out lies. He went on CNN on Monday to explain himself. One comment he made really resonated on social media:
If you just muttered huh? to yourself, youre not alone.

Just present the facts and let the American people decide if they think someones lying. Journalists shouldnt be the one to say the president or his spokesperson is lying.
If you just muttered huh? to yourself, youre not alone.

(146,350 posts)2. Sounds like he's admitting that Trump and his team lies.
He knows they do, but doesn't want the public to be informed of that. That make him a liar, too.
The facts include the fact that the President tells a lie. It is the responsibility of journalists to let us know. Matt Schlapp's job is perpetuating Trump's lies, apparently.
No thanks, Matt, baby...
