It's difficult for me to believe that any of you are criticizing her.
For her vulgarity? As if Trump hasn't been more vulgar. As if Trump hasn't done more than anyone to introduce vulgarity to politics. Saying "fuck" a few times and "pussy" a few times is nothing as compared to Trump. And let's be honest: White House correspondents have been a party to vulgarity for decades. It's just been behind closed doors.
For her comments about Conway? She called Conway a liar. You can't get more accurate than that. And I find Conway to be even more egregious a liar than others because she is a liar for hire. She doesn't believe a damn thing she says. She lies for a paycheck, not out of any adherence to an ideology.
For her comments about HuckaSanders? Really? She called HuckaSanders a liar. That's just plain unvarnished truth. And as far as comments about her appearance go, Wolf said that HuckaSanders' makeup was made from the ashes of the truth. As far as I'm concerned, that's positively poetic.
I've seen people on here post that we shouldn't become that which we fight. Well, excuse me, but enjoying a comedian's remarks isn't the same thing as voting for and supporting Trump. I don't ever recall voting for anyone like Donald Trump, ever. He is, at once, the single most unqualified, the single most vulgar, the single most incompetent, and the single worst person ever elected to the office of the Presidency. He's hell-bent on destroying the social safety net and the environment. He's hell-bent on destroying the various departments with his cabinet picks. I didn't vote for that son of a bitch. I'd sure as hell vote for Michelle Wolf over him for President any day. Being able to laugh at a comedian's caustic shredding of the worst president in history - yep, he's put W second-to-last - is not becoming that which we fight. It doesn't make any of us deplorables. That is a thoroughly ridiculous false equivalency.
I've also seen people quoting Michelle Obama's "when they go low, we go high" line. I am certain that Michelle Obama is smarter and a better person than I am. But I've also seen smart, wonderful people see positive qualities in others who simply don't have them. I think she's mistaken for that reason. When they go low, and we go high, they hit and we miss. If dirty politics ultimately didn't work, they would have been scrapped long ago. I thoroughly enjoy seeing Republicans put on the defensive. Mainly because it hardly ever happens. They start something nasty, then Fox and the right-wing radio hosts start broadcasting it 24/7, and then CNN and MSNBC cover it to look balanced or impartial. Their damned echo chamber works so well that it got Donald Fucking Trump elected. We shouldn't be wincing over Wolf's remarks or patting poor little Sarah on the hand. We ought to pile more on.
We should be repeating Wolf's remarks and elaborating on just how true they are. Holy shit, people, she lies on the behalf of Donald Trump. In my opinion, that opens her up for any kind of abuse that can be laid on her, and I'm damn proud of Wolf for having the courage to slap her with the truth right up there on stage. I will applaud any one who nails anyone associated with the Trump administration, under any circumstances. And I think any of you who don't should be ashamed of yourselves. I think if you don't, you're Trump enablers.
I support any of the Trump administration getting knocked down in

(6,699 posts)We are fighting the fight for the future of this nation. ALL the fuckwads have come out of the closet. Can we at least slap paint on them before they crawl back inside their closets and pretend they never supported this piece of shit in the WH??

(5,164 posts)The ashes of truth/facts burned and transformed to make up etc was poetic, make up being artifice etc. I wonder if she wrote that herself?

(18 posts)What we don't need in this country is more vulgarity, more name calling, more crudeness, more unkindness. Wolf hurt journalism and undid any good the White House Correspondents were trying to create. I quit listening after six minutes. It was making me cringe. Trump has degraded this nation. We must not emulate him.

A slavering racist rapist spewing diarrhea for almost 90 minutes?
Let me tell you a story.
My kid was in the 5th grade a bully kept tormenting him especially about his weight.
He dreaded going to school, every day was a struggle.
He would make himself sick to avoid going to school.
One day said bully jumped on him on the playground.
Andrew had finally had enough and punched him in the face. When my dad and I went to pick him up we saw a kid running away with blood all over his face wailing and running home.
We looked at each other i,
as a mom I knew my son had done it.
He had.
There was no punishment by us or the school.
The kid NEVER bothered him again, in fact later he said they got along good.
No one ever bothered him in school again.
He played sports until he broke his arm badly
Wrestling in 1998.
The moral of the story is you don't take shit from bullies.
You don't back down.
You fight back and make them back down.

(37,748 posts)Don't pretend satire and vulgarity are synonymous, as it does no one any credit to project Trump's lack of critical thought into the masses. We must not emulate him.

I've enjoyed standup since it got a lot of attention in the 90's with tons of shows on Comedy Central. But I also grew up prior to that listening to Richard Pryor and George Carlin along with Eddie Murphy. Now that stuff was raw.
