Let them sweat out the deserved ridicule in their pool of hypocrisy.

actual truth, you need to post warning signs alongside it so the public can distinguish it from fact. That fine line was not distinguishable based on Ryan's current track record. You fooled me.

Everywhere it has shown up, someone immediately points out that it is satire. Not everyone stops reading after the headline. Those who only read headlines are pretty much fools, really.

Satire always fools some people. Those people should be embarrassed, I think.

But DU should not contribute to fake news headlines imo.

You’re being just a tad disingenuous to pretend not to know fake news often fools people.

And now our enemies can say that DUers spread fake news.

You can’t claim satire is fake news because satire IS already fake and it ISN’T news.

Just like you can’t demand that humor used in a roast be sweetly funny. It defeats the purpose of the roast.

Besides, any obvious identification of a piece of writing as satire defeats the entire purpose of satirical writing. Jonathan Swift didn't identify "Gulliver's Travels" or "A Modest Proposal" as satire, either.

Further, the content of the post was over the top to a degree that identified it as satire as well. Did you read it?

I don't know why I'm even discussing this, really.

has a comment up near the initial tweet that identifies it. People who can tell satire from a news story immediately say that it is a piece of satire. Those who can't tell the difference probably only read the title. I don't write for those folks, frankly.

On DU, it was recognized as satire right away by most readers. Think about it this way: When would Paul Ryan ever say that working people should be glad to have a tax increase? He thinks it, but would never say it. The satire quoted him as saying it twice, and Joel Osteen saying it, too.
