Macron embraces civil rights hero Rep John Lewis
Hours after delivering a pointed rebuke of Trumpism in front of Congress, French President Emmanuel Macron embraced one of President Trump’s fiercest political rivals.
Macron tweeted a video of himself sharing a warm hug with civil rights icon Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) Wednesday afternoon.
“He fought for civil rights with Martin Luther King,” wrote Macron. “Very honored to have @repjohnlewis by my side in the streets of Washington.”
“Thanks for everything,” Macron can be heard telling the long-serving Congressman towards the end of the 32-second clip.
