State Rep. Joe Salazar won a key endorsement Friday in the Colorado attorney generals race, announcing backing from former presidential candidate and U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Now more than ever we need officials who will stand up for working families and the public interest against wealthy and powerful special interests, Sanders, an independent from Vermont, said in a statement. Joes record of progressive achievements in the legislature show thats the kind of attorney general he will be.
Salazar was Sanders highest-ranking supporter in Colorado during the 2016 presidential election cycle and is running a Sanders-esque campaign to become the states top law enforcement official.

(94,950 posts)With the roster of candidates in the 2018 Colorado attorney generals race all but set, Democrat Phil Weiser maintained his wide fundraising lead last quarter, eclipsing all of his four in-party rivals and amassing a war chest that Republican George Brauchler the only GOP challenger will be hard-pressed to match.
...snip...
Among those at the bottom of the fundraising pack again was state Rep. Joe Salazar, D-Thornton, who raised some $24,000 but spent $27,536, leaving him with just under $9,000 heading into 2018. He said his campaign is people-oriented and that Im not selling this seat to the highest bidder.
