Kanye West has performed a great service to the Black Community - Big things are happening and eyes are being opened for the first time in Decades - Legacy Stuff! Thank you also to Chance and Dr. Darrell Scott, they really get it (lowest Black & Hispanic unemployment in history).

Trump, unaccustomed to defenders in the celebrity world, on Friday thanked Chance on Twitter and said that eyes are being opened for the first time in decades as he touted low unemployment rates among minorities.
Chance, whose father is a Democratic operative in Chicago who worked for future president Barack Obama, on Friday apologized and said he only wanted to support West, whom he called such a mentor that he felt like family.
Id never support anyone who has made a career out of hatred, racism and discrimination, Chance tweeted in reference to Trump.
Chance said his comments were ill-timed but that Chicago has had generations of Democratic officials with no investment or regard for black schools, neighborhood(s) or black lives.

(11,760 posts)Instead of defending West, Chance should check him. Call him up and say, "What's going on here Kanye? Kanye has done some dumb shit over the years. Some of it I agreed with like when he said in the middle of the Grammys that Bush didn't care about Black people (after Hurricane Katrina). Some of it was just dumb, like going after Taylor Swift. This is just nonsense though. He's aligning himself with someone who has actively been aggressive against Black people.
I agree with Chance that the Democratic Party has often failed to support the Black community as much as the Black community has supported the Dems. That is just fact and should be something that weighs heavily on Democratic minds. We need to be better about supporting people of color and women. But there will be no "Independent" president and while Black people don't have to be Democrats (Karen Hunter has said the same) the reality is that Republicans have nothing but disdain for Black people and no third party has enough power to sustain any kind of national support. I am not saying that Black people have to settle for whatever the Democratic Party gives them, on the contrary, I think that POC and women need to coalesce and make the Democratic Party work for them. Republicans sure as hell never will.

Guess the same could apply to black people too. Talk about voting against your best interests.
