During the press conference, his “answers” to questions were totally tangential and barely related to the subject matter — in fact he was responding like a person with advancing dementia and an inability to control emotions. He grabs one word (a classic move that someone with dementia does to look as though he/she understands a question or conversation), and then he repeats the word constantly while his “thinking” wanders all over the place. All he can think and talk about is himself and how his poor little self is being persecuted. His statement that every allegation against Jackson is false is just absurd — and a president openly threatening a member of congress with retaliation is beyond anything appropriate.
I have to say that cnn’s response to this debacle is making me physically ill. They are trying to pick crumbs off the floor to praise Trump for a disastrous presser that would have been considered a horrible failure if Obama or Bush had been up there instead of this disaster.
Merkel looked like she couldn’t believe what was happening; I think it’s pretty clear that she has zero respect for him and sees right through his shallow bluster. Also, Trump’s constant jerking of his upper body and his stupid, transparent expressions made him look like a child (he used to do this fairly frequently but now he does it nonstop while foreign leaders are speaking — he is the classic example of a spoiled child who wasn’t properly socialized).
We have NEVER had a president so incompetent and so totally out of his depth when dealing with international figures.
His body language with Putin was just humiliating (in previous interactions) in the eyes of the world.
