(445 posts)If this issue continues, more people might sign the petition and if MSNBC then decides it's no longer in their interest to keep her we lose another liberal to a smear campaign.

(15,326 posts)which as you attested in another thread that means I'm someone very important, I can confidently say as an important person that online petitions are highly significant. Everyone knows the hard to hack internet makes it so, right? As you say, hacking is so incredibly difficult. Internet lends legitimacy! Why would you question an internet petition?

People want to hang her on something that may or may not be true years ago. Clearly she not anti-gay today seems to make no difference to these short sighted people. It's just so damn easy to sucker Democrats into eating their own.

(37,460 posts)Archive & Wayback still can't quite explain different sources that backed up her info. But then again its always a rush to judgement.
"At least some of the examples of allegedly fraudulent posts provided to us had been archived at different dates and by different entities."
What does this mean? Everything is fallible to believe otherwise is stupid.
In 2005 when BrokeBack Mtn. came out in the movies what was the majority position in the US about LBGT? I'd venture a guess a good portion of the people with the petitions weren't even able to go see the movie. People seem to forget a lot of this stuff from Crist, etc was out in the new and in print. We had the intern scandal with the Florida Congressman. Majority of US opposed gay marriage.

(31,261 posts)People grow and change. I have always been supportive of gay people because a brother was gay and I saw from an early age that he did not make that choice and that he faced abuse and struggles that I did not face. But I admit that even I had to evolve to accept and support Trans people, even with my personal background with a gay brother.

(5,811 posts)We feel that Joy Reid creates division with her tweets and broadcasts. We feel that she's no longer reporting news, but rather using your organization as a springboard to launch an unwarrented attack on Bernie Sanders and his over 14,000,000 voters. In a climate that is already tense, we feel her repeated comments threaten the delicate balance we're trying to form left of center to eventually take on republicans in 2018 and beyond. There's simply no room for such condescending rhetoric in our living rooms anymore.
The second one is about the LGTBQ community.
Aren't many of Joy's guest LGTBQ?

(5,811 posts)These people are attacking the only black female journalist with an MSNBC show.
The same people are outraged by the allegations against Dr. Jackson without asking why none of these complaining witnesses never filed an anonymous complaint with the state medical licensing board or the DEA or OIG. No one is asking why the alcohol and drug allegations didn't appear in the 2012 OIG report. No one is asking how he managed to pass an FBI background check in 2017 after two driving related incidents in 2013 and 2016.
I think the Trump White House wanted to get rid of him and destroy him for a reason unrelated to the current allegations.

The other was started by a Mikey Amman. Twitter account suspended. But a Google search reflects use of various Bernie-related hashtags.
People with legitimate concerns about this issue exist but it does seem to be a coordinated attack.

(63,221 posts)Who is attacking her? Is it liberals/progressives/Bernie Bros or is it republicans/Russian Trolls. I still don't quite understand what she did that was so horrible since I don't really have the time to go looking for it right now, but maybe I will look into it more deeply over the weekend.
From what I can tell, from what little I know about it, the whole thing just seems completely blown out of proportion.
OneGrassRoot
(22,923 posts)and that may be by design.
I can't say I'm clear about any of it either. She wrote things years ago, mainly referencing Charlie Crist from what I can tell, which had comments disparaging about gay men. She apologized for those.
Suddenly new blog posts, supposedly from a decade ago, have gotten attention, but she disputes she wrote them and says they were hacked. Similar to the gun debates, terminology is being pulled into things to confuse the issue even more, all under the guise of clarity and education, of course. (Yeah, that was snarky...I'm agitated right now...lol.)
She has hired a cyber expert (his credentials and connections to unsavory characters immediately came under attack) and an attorney; I read this morning that the FBI is now involved.
Joan Walsh worked with Joy at Salon for many years before the MSNBC gig and stood up for her, saying the allegedly hacked blogs don't sound like the Joy Reid she knows; plus, her editorial team and readers would have jumped all over such content. The blogs in question have no comments, which is what makes it very odd.
As to who is doing the attacking, it's the Greenwalds and Breitbarts and at least some of the BernieBro contingent.
There's also a new term for many of us that arose yesterday: Black propaganda. Malcolm Nance explained that it's when existing content is used but falsehoods are interspersed in it via hacking, as well as wholesale fake content of course. Dealing with a base of truth (in this case the fact that Joy admitted to and apologized for language used many years ago in her blogs), those wanting to destroy make their fake news seem plausible by superimposing it on grains of truth.
Hope that makes sense. There are tons of links about the above but I'm too pooped to find them.
