(63,221 posts)What they do on a daily basis is so cruel and unfair, I just can't take much more of it. It also just overwhelms me to think that there are so many people who are willing to make life as miserable and difficult for the people in this country who are barely getting by in the first place. What makes people so evil? They are destroying my faith in humanity. Some days I just want off of this planet.

(2,104 posts)Maybe it's time to think about colonizing the moon. Not our moon, mind you, that's far too close. I think Saturn has some moons that might be suitable.
I mean, honestly, they should love this plan, a whole space rock all to themselves. They can govern (or not) it any way they want. Survival of the fittest. Death penalty for being poor. Servitude for having a uterus. They can name it something biblical, like Corinthians Two. It will be their fondest dream come true.
If we frame this right, we can probably sell tickets and they'll pay for the whole cost themselves. It's a win-win.

(11,573 posts)I consider myself pretty aware (although not so much, when compared to the incredible attention span and breadth of knowledge of many here on DU) and very liberal. I have never voted otherwise, and I've been voting since the early 70's.
And I find my instinct for outrage is being blunted. I can imagine how little attention the less aware pay to stories like this.

(10,499 posts)RW media for the corporate/billionaire overlords to blame the poor, elderly, immigrants and minorities for all of our financial problems. The Republicans swallowing this crap are not excused, but if we want it to stop we have to make some big changes in our media. Restoring the Fairness Act would be a great start.

(51,649 posts)"You got to speak out against the madness, you got to speak your mind if you dare," sings Crosby in reference to the uncertainty of the times. 'Long Time Gone' was written the night after the assassination of Robert Kennedy. "I started to feel overwhelmed," Crosby told Rolling Stone, "It seemed as if it was ballot by bullet. It seemed as if it didn't matter how good a person we could find to put up as an inspiration and a leader for the good, that somehow the other side would triumph by simply gunning them down." David Crosby...... 'Long Time Gone'.

(14,167 posts)The Trump administration has also started allowing states to impose work requirements on residents enrolled on Medicaid.
The initiative unveiled by Carson Wednesday would raise the rent for tenants in subsidized housing to 35 percent of gross income (or 35 percent of their earnings working 15 hours a week at the federal minimum wage), up from the current standard of 30 percent of adjusted income. About half of the 4.7 million families receiving housing benefit would be affected, HUD officials said.
Thirty-five percent of one's gross income. Think of a single mom of 2 or 3 kids making $32,000 a year. That works out to nearly $2667 gross a month. Take off at least $400 for taxes, union dues and other miscellaneous. That takes you to $2267. If this person spends $933 (35%) of the gross for rent, she'd be left with $1334 per month to pay all of her family's bills, utilities, food, transportation costs, clothing, etc.
These people are pure, selfish, greedy, EVIL in human form. May they reap what they have sown.
