We just got a letter from our health insurer telling us that since they only used 84.5% of the premiums they collected on health services, they now have to refund us 0.5% of our premiums. It is a small amount that will only add up to a few bucks, but I think holding the insurers accountable is a big victory. It will also rein in future increases.
The more Americans who get these types of letters and rebates the more who will see the plus side of the APA.

(45,558 posts)I believe there is a stipulation that if you are in a group fund, your employer pays for the "group" plan, then they can choose to lower the premium paid by the employee's or give the money to the enrollees.
If I was an account for the firms in question, I would just reduce the payments to December so that the people would get a little bit of money extra for the holidays.

(3,596 posts)My insurer, CIGNA, owes us 2.5% of our premiums back. It won't be much but it shows the value of the ACA.
