(10,960 posts)This is not a criminal trial, it is talking about the Olympics.
If she wants to blame someone for her day being spoiled she can start with the Chinese swim program for having a history of massive cheating.
Of course she faces unusual scrutiny.

(26,165 posts)And has been for a long time.
I don't blame the swimmers 00 they have no choice, just like the East Germans didn't, but the odds are that every single Chinese swimmer at the Olympics is dirty, but their juice people are either using something new or are masking what they are using very well.
Marion Jones and many others came up clean, too, and some were either never caught or publicly exposed (which is what I'm betting happened with Flo Jo, because she was dead).

"I think it's a significant involvement," WADA's director general David Howman told CNN.
"The laboratory will have everything it could possibly need in terms of equipment. If athletes go to London, they know if they are cheating they are likely to be caught."

If their shady past is all there is to go on - a more discreet inquiry would have been appropriate.
A loud public accusation is wrong

(22,308 posts)I don't have the numbers in front of me but as I understand it she beat her best time by so much that it seems impossible for her to have done it on her own.
This is when you just need to trust in the people who's job it is to sort these things out. Nothing for any of the rest of us to do but wait for their findings.

(22,308 posts)I don't know why they keep bringing up Lochte's times
BTW, here tests came back and they say she was clean, so that is that.

(9,893 posts)It was Lachte (?), and he looks amazingly fit and powerful.
It would be like a woman running the 100 meters as fast as Usain Bolt. There would be questions if that happened.

Lochte was comfortably in the lead (3.44 seconds in front of 2nd at the final turn) - he may have slowed (though he still swam the final length faster than the guy in 2nd). Lochte swam the whole thing nearly 20 seconds faster than Ye. Her world record time for the whole 400m would have placed her 34th in the men's heats, beating 3 guys from Macedonia, El Salvador and Qatar (and a guy from Tunisia who was disqualified).
This would be like a woman recording a faster final 100m in an 800m foot race than the winner of the men's 800m, when he had eased up after building a comfortable lead - and still finishing 10 seconds behind him.
